So today I left my wife mother-in-law and newborn son at the hospital to go get some lunch. It was the first time I left since Monday night so I was ready to get some fresh air and drive again. Well after grabbing lunch for my M-I-L I was backing out of my spot and instead of using the camera(like I normally do) I was looking over my left shoulder to make sure no one was coming. My wife always tells me to look and not rely on the camera so much. Needless to say I should have used the damn camera. I ended up hitting a womans car that was illegally parked, that I knew was there. Moral of the story USE YOUR CAMERA if you have one.
The best part of the whole thing was that the woman tried to lie to the cop right in front of me. I had to go inside in get her but she told the cop that she was in her car. When he questioned her more she "couldn't remember" where she was. Then when he told her to get her lic reg and proof or ins. she gave the lic but "didn't know' what the reg and POI looked like. The cop kinda berated her and went through her paperwork and got it. SHe then proceeded to drive away while he had the reg and POI. What a looney toon.

Soon after buying my G, I was backing out of my garage and I drove right into a huge soft pile of bark mulch that had been delivered the day before.
I wasn't used to using the camera yet and never saw the mountain of mulch that was right there behind me.
There was no damage, other than to my pride... in fact, this is the first time I ever mentioned it in my 2+ years of ownership.
Use your camera people... or you'll end up with exhaust tips filled with wood chips!

it was just the bumper. It looks like I hit a pole or something. I was really suprised by how deep the dent is. Last time "it was just the bumper" on my lexus it ended up being $1300 to fix the stuff under.
I just hope the insurance co cuts me a break since she was illegally parked (fingers crossed).

yep, bummer dude! hope it's not too expensive.
i had a loaner similar to mine but w/o backup cam. really missed it! i also miss it in my other vehicles.
there is no substitute when you have small kids around. even if they aren't back there, they will leave their toys anywhere they drop them when done playing.
they are also great for parallel parking and hooking up a trailer (on vehicles with a hitch), etc...
our cars have such a huge blind spot below the rear glass, i really think it's a worthwile option.
