Cool Dealer not honoring ebay auction

Sorry if this is a repost. Ran across this on autoblog. Seems most of the car forums have picked this story up already...

http://www.challengertalk.com/forums...s-29-1k-34598/

In short the guy's winning bid on this Challenger was $29,000 and the car is worth much more than that (being almost new). The dealer went in and lowered the selling price during the auction and somehow removed the reserve? The dealer is now refusing to honor the winning bid. "hitman" is the winning bidder in the thread...

If you have a bunch of time to kill, read through. I definitely side with the bidder on this one...

wow this is the second thread im reading about dealers not honoring ebay bids, the first one was of a M3 a while back and the guy got all the forums involved and 1000's of people started to harass the dealership by calling them and finally got some media support as well and in the end they agreed to sell him the car in return of getting all the people to stop calling and a media statement saying how nice they were and after all this the guy decided NOT to buy the car... ill read through this for fun though.

F*ckers! I hate that kind of crap! Time to go to court...I just had a similar Ebay experience this morning...after doing business on Ebay for 12 years now...seller waited until I won the auction & paid for the item, then told me that he had already sold it to someone else & didn't know how to cancel the auction.

The OP of the thread just posted an update saying he spoke with the owner who still refused to honor the deal and auction that he rightfully won.

This is getting crazy...the story has been posted on over 160 car forums!!

They need to accept they made a mistake and sell him that car. I would do the same thing he is doing if I won it. It's only fair, but life is far from fair however. It says he is already seeked legal counsel, I wonder where this goes, and what the outcome will be!

Well at the end of the auction listing it does state which is written by the dealer that this is a binding legal contract and it should definately go both ways, for non paying bidders and to the seller who sells it at a lower cost than expected

It's their problem not the bidder's. I've been hearing these stories quick a lot lately.
