Parasitic Battery Drain??
The alternator isn't terrible, it's pretty tight under the car but an angle head pair of needle nose pliers helps to get the harness off. That's where the 45 degree angle head needle nose pliers absolutely save the day. Use them to hold down the release tab on the harness while you pop it off with your other hand, otherwise you WILL be fighting those things trying to get the release tabs held down.
never had good experiences with Gs and batteries (had an '03 and now '07 sedan). Both appear to consume quite a bit after shutdown, and I'm on my third battery in 8.5 years. I haven't hooked it up to the see the actual draw, but wanted to leave the comment on the 30 minute thing. For about 30 minutes, the car's circuitry (mainly the headlamp section) still stays powered. I have a radar and a dashcam wired into that circuit and both stay powered for around 30mins, after which the circuit goes dead. Hopefully helpful to anyone trying to solve this non-issue.
