From Page 3-7 of the 2007 G35 User Manual:
Lockout protection
When the power door lock switch (driver
or front passenger) is moved to the lock
position with the Intelligent Key in the
port and any door open, all doors will
lock and unlock automatically. With the
Intelligent Key left in the vehicle (not in
the Intelligent Key port) and any door
open, all doors will unlock automatically
and a chime will sound after the door is
closed.
These functions help to prevent the Intelligent
Key from being accidentally locked
inside the vehicle.
That also goes for the trunk: Page 3-11
Lockout protection:
To prevent the Intelligent Key from being
accidentally locked in the trunk, lockout
protection is equipped with the Intelligent
Key system.
When the trunk lid is closed with the Intelligent
Key inside the trunk, the outside
buzzer will sound and the trunk will open.

Well, now that pocket proved he can read, he/she should probably understand that things don't always work the way they're supposed to.

So.....I've locked my key in the trunk, and this guy apparently locked his in the car. We all know how it's supposed to work though, thanks!

I've locked my key in the trunk of my last G (05). It can happen, luckily I had the spare key close by.

This only applies to the 07+ that has the intelligent key, the 05 did not have the intelligent key so there was no lockout protection. I've also locked my keyfob in the trunk on my pre-07 G coupe.

Only if you do what the OP did, by physically pushing the lock above the lever on the door instead of using the power door-lock switch. Had he used the switch to lock the doors, it would have automatically unlocked until he took the keys with him outside the car.

At least that's the only way I can think of that one can bypass the lockout protection.

...or if the FOB battery is low, or if the FOB is inside a gym bag inside the trunk....
It's all been discussed before in other threads.

the only reason i put it in the cup holder is because i was getting a car wash.. and i had to leave the keys in there for the guy to run the car through the machine

No. The car will continue to run if you keep the key in your pocket while the attendant takes it through the carwash.
Once the car is started you can drive it as far away from the key FOB as you like until it runs out of fuel or the driver shuts it off...whichever comes first.

Depends where you take your car. When I lived in Atlanta, I used to take my car to a place that would turn the car off while it was rolling through and then turn it back on at the end of the wash and pull it out and then clear the interior.... I always had to leave my keys in the cupholder or he wouldnt be able to turn it on in time and have a chance of the car behind him running into mine!

The car running without the FOB has nothing to do with where you take your car to be washed, lol.
soakgame thought the fob needed to be IN the car for it to keep running. I only explained that it doesn't. It's good to know.
