I bet it will sell for around 34-35 grand, top range being around 37-39k. Lets see how close i get.

Im betting all the same features as the current G, you just pay an extra 2k or so for the bigger V6. The current top range G is about 43k for the sedan.

^ J., Do you think that a $4k price difference (high end) is enough to get people to choose a 2.5l over a 3.5l (3.7)?
I think thats a little to close. I would ALWAYS take the extra ~100 horsies for $4k

I hope it's not quite that expensive. Doesn't the base G37 start around $33K right now?

If the 25 is that expensive it will probably push the G37 price up. Right now the G starts at the same price as a 328/Is250 but offers much more power/options for the money which is what makes it such a great value. And, unfortunately, the 328 still outsells it. So if they try to price the G25 at around the same price as the 328 I don't think it will compete very well.

However if it is offered for thousands less than the 328 I think it will have a good niche in the market.

I'm guessing the reason has a lot to do with fuel economy, not just sticker price. If they can get 20 city/30 highway I think the brand would appeal to more buyers. I'm sure there are a lot of people that care about fuel economy and wouldn't notice the difference between 200 and 300 horsepower.

It nice that Infiniti is adding a turbo on their 2.5L motor, I see potenial easy upgrades. Didn't the Skyline R33-34 come with an 2.5L turbo motor, altho it wasn't the VQ series like this one...

^ It won't be a turbo. The turbo was initially rumored but was immediately retracted.

bkd is correct, it has a lot to do with fuel economy. The Infiniti line-up is rather poor, and overall as a company Nissan has to up their fleet mpg ratings, iirc, to meet CAFE standards. Since the G is Infiniti's bread and butter, it only makes sense to offer a more efficient variant of it, especially to those who buy into the name merely for the name itself and not necessarily because it's a RWD sports sedan.

Mid-high twenties???? There is no way. It'll probably be $1500-2000 less than the existing model. The rest of the car is the same. They may even source the engine from Mercedes if that partnership they announced means anything.

well i just think this is maybe where all the cars are going to head towards. i mean the HP and displacement race has to end somewhere. and with the fuel costs and all that.

i mean we did go from a g20 to g35 to now a g37. whats next g39 or g40? i dont see a point personally. would i rather have a 37 instead of my 35? absolutely since its newer but other than that idk.

I read the posts, some of you have a case, I still stand on my view.

Seriously, why can't infiniti just fawk off with trying to compete with BMW and just stay away from making a piece of crap BMW 323/325, tsx, is250, comparable model... Infiniti should stand out for a change, believe in something... slap twin turbos on the G37 and advertise to the world that they actually have a set of ***** and are not worried about "POSERS" who want to pose in higher end luxury but can't afford gas. (ie: is250, 323/325, tsx, etc.) Look up, eat the 335i for breakfast, be proud, stand for something, PERFORMANCE!

If you want a 2.5, buy an Altima!

(I really hope they're reading this)

then the G25 makes perfect sense. Not everyone would want that high performance car you want.

altima is 4 cyl. fwd 175hp
g25 6cyl rwd. 230hp

g25 can be fixed up the same as a g37 tripple bi turbo-high flow twin-twin cam.. but who cares, you'll never really use all the power anyways.

my take to your rant.

The G25 would only make sense if Infiniti developed a bunch of luxe technologies/features that would make it a decent competitor for similar luxury brand vehicles in the same tier. IMO, Infiniti is still lacking in that department...

Hopefully it will have a different enough design as to not be confused for a G35/37 — it will cheapen our cars and subsequently the Infiniti brand.

It may seem like they're competing, but my thoughts are since they already have the G25 anyway, and there are people asking for it, then why not just bring it over? It hardly costs them anything to do it, and the rewards are there for the taking. It also helps build the line-up.

As for performance, the Infiniti version of the GT-R is still in the pipeline last i heard.

And they will be offering NISMO-type, manufacturer approved, performance parts and products backed by full factory warranties. It's akin to the Lexus F-Sport offerings. Or at least i would hope so. It would be nice to get more than just cosmetic upgrades from manufacturers.

IMHO a turbo diesel that gets 45 mpg and about 280 ftlbs torque is what I'd want to see.

I don't see a small V6 getting good enough mileage to be worth the performance loss.
