Not a G35 but a 2011 G25
How so, exactly, does offering this car, in light of everything else in the line-up, and the much anticipated Infiniti version of a GT-R, cheapen the brand any more than similar offerings from other manufacturers does to theirs?
IS 250/IS 350 then adding the IS-F. Or BMW going w/ their 3 series/5series, then adding their M versions later in the model run.
I see your point.
Although i don't agree completely with it since BMW released the 1-series, a slot below the 3. Lexus is also coming out with a 1-series, Audi A3 competitor for the 2012 model year. In fact, most of the luxury car makes are coming out with "budget" vehicles in the next year or two, if they haven't already. Audi, i believe, is coming out with two -- A1 and the A2.

I think its a great idea to bring the G25 here, The G20 was a great car and its been 8 years since they last made it, my wife has one and loves it...although if Infiniti prices the G25 wrong, sales will suffer like they did with the G20....
would be nice if they start the MSRP at 27k-32k

I think it's the progression of the G lineup that's a bit backwards (at least compared to the BMW & Lexus Sport Sedans). They typically start w/ the lower end car and add higher performing cars to the line. Such as the

Interesting view for sure. The way I see is the G is an entry luxury car. Nothing wrong having some eco engine in it. Would I buy it. No. Would more people buy G who doesn't care about HP and 060? Absolutely. If you can get the same trim packages what you can get in the 37 why not.
There is a reason why there is/was 2 trims for the Infiniti M and the FX.
Maybe they are more into the tech gadgets and they pick the more equiped G with the small engine instead of going with the journey big engine and no or minimal options on it.
More options they give us better it is.

anyone worried about g25's debadging and making people think they are higher, while getting the advantages of better mpg mann i wish they werent dual exhaust or had some difference in body
i just see infiniti gearing toward a younger market. people in their 20s can better afford a g25, and the refresh of the 2010 g37 looks more youthful to me as well. i much prefer my 2008, a classier aesthetic imho.
Who cares? This is being blown WAY out of proportion by some people. A vast majority of of models currently on the market offer different engine options, including many luxury vehicles. Big deal. And from reports I've read, the mpg advantages are minimal.
Agreed. I really don't see how any of this affects perceived value in the sense that a lot are mentioning about. The big difference (in price, specifically) between a G25 and G37 is no different than that of a base 37 Journey and a fully-loaded 37. But that doesn't mean to say that the base 37 Journey is bringing anything down.
