Is there a proper way to go from N back to D on the highway?

I need to put my car in N when on highway to eliminate a problems i am having with vibration. I need to do this at 75 MPH...I know it wont hurt going from D to N on at these speeds but can i go back to D without hurting the transmission? Should i try and match RPM's then slip back to D?

Just drop it in. You'll be fine. It's not a biggie.

Take your foot off of the gas and let the RPMs settle, and it'll take to D with no issues at all.

^ there is no "D" mode in 6mt

D stands for Drive in Auto

And yea just let go of the gas and slip it in.

Why are you having to put it in N on the highway, what vibration is causing you to have to do that? It shouldn't be necessary

I need to see if the vibration is engine/trans related

Here is the saga:

im gonna read through your post because my ex girlfriend is having the same problem and it's really bad (she has a 2003 eclipse). i'm down to tie rods or the tranny, and i'd hate to have to replace the tranny.

if its engine trans related you would still get vibration in neutral. everything inside the transmission is still moving around when your in neutral anyway.

^^^ While i tend to agree with this, when i put it in N RPM's dropped down to about 1000 and the vibration was still occurring which usually only occurs in the 3000 range on the highway, not in the 1000 range when driving around town, so i believe i have ruled out the engine as well as trans.

I know the trans would still be moving..but would it be moving to the extend of driving at 75MPH at 3000 RPM's?...because when i went back to D from N, you could feel the trans engage again and RPM's went right back up to 3000
