I hope you're not mistaking an Uprev tune as a "tune-up", which are two different things.
Uprev will set you back about $600, plus the cost of dyno tuning (unless you e-tune).
A tune-up, as normally defined, will vary depending on your dealership or if you do things yourself.

i got the tune today. the car responded very well. i gained a peak of 25whp for the auto awd thats not bad at all. way more than i expected. but more importantly the a/f was so rich we pulled out tons and the car is sipping fuel now. i avg. 19.2 mpg on the way to the shop. and 23.8 on the way home. im going to see what the next week gets me so i know better how much this improved my mpg's but its a good sign that its working better.

When you said you wanted to get a tune to improve gas mileage, I didn't expect you would realize much if any there (certainly NOT 8 or 9 mpg) , as they already factory tune them with a distinct bias toward economy and emissions. Additionally, and as has been said previously, it would also be expected that any economy gains would most like have a performance price as well. Conversely, if you were tuning for power, I could see gaining proportionately more there due to the bias of the original factory tune, but then ONLY at the sacrifice of some economy.
Call me a doubter, but until I see some serious proof of these fantastic results you're reporting here, that you indeed got both power and economy simultaneously, I remain unconvinced.

Frankly, this defies conventional wisdom regarding these cars. I'm not calling BS, but seriously, if there was another 25whp and better gas mileage available from these engine, I cannot for the life of me imagine that the manufacturer wouldn't have tweaked it out for themselves.

I've seen cars with exhaust and HFC's getting those types of gains, but not on a stock car (at least not one I can remember).
If getting 25WHP was as simple as a $500 tune, we'd ALL have done that by now.
