Warranty Question

I just bought a 2008 G35xS as a CPO from an Infiniti Dealership. I didn't notice it on my initial inspection, but in the door behind the driver, there are 2 spots of rust. It looks like they were intially chips from the previous owner putting something in the back seat. However, they are starting to rust. Is this something the dealership and my warranty will cover? My G still has a little over a year and 35,000 miles on the factory warranty before the CPO warranty kicks in. Here are pictures of the spots:

Its hard to tell from the pictures, but the spots are rusting.

It does look bad.... being that its supposed to be a cpo, I think the dealership was supposed to have inspected and fixed it before selling it in the first place. They should take care of it no problem

So, I just got back from the local infiniti dealership, and they said they could do nothing. Their only suggestion was to call the original dealership to have them take a look and see if there is anything they can do.

I called my salesman up in WI and he advised me to call the service dept. manager on monday and talk to him. Hopefully they will work with me on this.

When I got home from the dealership here in chicago, I did some closer inspection in the all of my doors. I found at least 1 small rust spot in each of the doors. They are much smallee than the 2 in the picture above so they were easily missed, but this is concerning me.

Get it taken care of ASAP before it gets worst. That was the dealers fault for not fixing it before the sell.

That is my plan and thinking as well. I am going to take better pictures today so that I can email them to the service manager on monday. I am hoping they can contact the chicago infiniti dealership to have the work taken care of here so I don't have to drive up to WI. However, if necessary, I will take a day off of work.

I really feel like this is something they should have taken care of with it being a cpo.

Stone chips & their side affects aren't covered under warranty and are not Nissan's problem. You MIGHT be able to get a dealer to take care of 1 or 2 but it will be a "good will" gesture and wont happen but 1 time.

Yeah, that I am aware of. But, these are not stone chips as they are on the inside of the doors.

yes but in their minds stone chips are the same as careless owners (not you necessarily) whacking the car with something that will chip the paint

I agree, but I feel like since I just bought the car as a cpo that these spots should have been taken care of.

Unfortunately, Infiniti is under no obligation to repair and repaint stone, or other, paint chips for you (CPO) any more than they would have been for the original owner. This damage is not a result of a manufacturing defect.
I do wish you luck getting them to take care of it for you. You never know with dealers. They are so hit and miss.

Thanks for the input and that is what I am worried about.

I guess I just assumed that with it being a CPO, the would have fixed looming issues like this. I am waiting for a call back from the Service Manager at the dealership I purchased the car from. I sent him an email with pictures of the spots to get his reaction.
