dont worry they cant drive off without the key because the key has to be inside for the car to start and even if you left the car on and they drive off with it and you had the key the car would shut off since the key is too far.

and i have no idea about the auto lock lol

in for answers too

no only the 09+ have the auto lock feature in which the doors lock while in drive.

I dont believe any of the G's have the option in which the doors auto lock if you walk away with the fob.

although there are several aftermarket alarm and security systems that have this feature...i believe one of the more popular ones is the ST800 or something like that.

Is this true? I was under the impression that if the car was on (and the key was not in the car), someone could drive off the car and go wherever they please as long as they never shut it off.

What is the distance for the "shut off" feature?

once the car is start you can drive it anywhere, i have driven it a few miles without a key!! I think they have tried to mimic the regular key system, if a regular key ignition car is start then it can be driven anywhere and the same rule applies to our car, however it can not be started without the key.

Also im not sure if it cause of my AM alarm or not but if the car is unlocked and i forget for a while the car locks it self within a few minutes, but im pretty sure it did this before the alaram install as well.

I let a friend borrow my car and he had my keys in his pocket when he brought the car back to me. I drove home (10miles) and the car never turned off while he still had my keys. Luckily I had a spare and went back to get my original.

If you leave the car running, yes they can drive until the fuel runs out or they turn it off.

The car beeps if you get out with the Intelligent Key, while the car is running. No lights will flash.
If you unlock the car but don't open a door, it will relock in about 30seconds and the lights will flash, IF you still the the lights flashing option enabled.

thx for reply and be patient with me...

if you hit the unlock button on accident and no door is open within a minute, the car will then lock itself.

the next model should have a auto shut off feature as soon as you hit the gas when the car is NOT inside the ride.

Good to know. I thought the car would shut off if someone tried to drive it without the key inside.
