Do i need a tune?

I have cai already. Soon i am getting a custom catback made by a local performance exhaust shop. I am hoping that the exhaust will free up some power in combo with my cai. The sound should be gratifying too. I realize that my ecu will recalibrate, but is that all it needs. Do i need a tune? I think that i should probably have it dyno'd and see where im at, i guess. Thx in advance.

You don't "need" a tune, but it will only allow you to see better gains from your cai and catback. If you are looking to se some decent power, i would suggest picking up test pipes or hfc(along with your custom catback) and then getting a tune.

^ exactly what he said, you dont need it but can get better results form your mods with a tune since these breathing mods mess with the AF ratio and bringing them back into check can yeild better power through out the power band, keep an eye on KulG35 thread where he has dynoed teh car with intake and exhaust and now will dyno with a tune and should see good ~15hp difference HOPEFULLY!! and a good gain throughout.

Thanks for the info fellas. I wanted intake and exhaust for the looks and sounds. I do expect some gains however. I feel that the CAI might have hindered my top end a little bit (hard to tell). So if the exhaust does not give me the feel that I want right out of the gate, I will probably invest in the tuner. I just don't want to pay 550$ for 3-5 hp. If my car runs better than it does now once the exhaust is on, im done....... probably. lol
