Akebono BBK or Extended Warranty

Ive been wanting to purchase the Akebono BBK for quite some time now from CZP.com.
But Ive also considered an extended warranty for my car and Ive been offered the Infiniti Elite Extended Warranty (3yrs/36k miles/$0 deductible) for $1,700.00 financed for 17 months at 0%.

The BBK is running $1,400 + tax/freight

Anyone have experience with the Infiniti Elite Extended Warranty?

Which would you go with?

The warranty is a gamble that gives you piece of mind. Its all up to your own personal risk tolerance of running without a warrenty. If you haven't checkout certain dealerships (like Scottsdale, AZ) for your warranty, the $1700 you were quoted might be high.

That being said, I'm a BBK fan after riding in my friends car that has one. Its all up to you. I went with an extended warranty a while back if that helps, however I'm jealous of my friend who can stop on a dime.

If you have the Sport model, you have improved brakes already. I know the Akebono BBK is sexy and all, but if you actually look at the data, there's really not much difference by the tape measure. If you planned on tracking your car, you could pick up added temperature related fade resistance, but most cars driven on the street will never see that materialize. I bet my '07 6MT with EBC Redstuff pads and Powerslot rotors will stop every bit as short as the Akebono BBK would at a fraction of the cost. It's your money, spend it wisely.

Not than long at all actually, and it's the first time I've used them so it'll be a while yet before I have a final opinion on them; so far, so good though. I probably shouldn't even have worded my previous response in context of the EBC pads though, because I really believe the stock pads and rotors on the sport stand up VERY well against the Akebono for street driving (aside from their propensity for judder issues which I'm sure I will have left behind now).

Hmm BBK is nice and notihing else special like VQ mentioned. How many times will you need to stop on a dime? If many, you may want address your driving style. On the other hand warranty on an 08 ehh, I'm 50/50 on it. I bought my 07 seven months ago with 39K miles and I bought the elite warranty. Being my second G35 I know I didn't need it but you never know. If I had to do it over again I would pass on the warranty and the BBK and do some other mod like exhaust, rims or something else. Just my .02

Im at 58k miles so its soon approaching the 60k warranty mark. I drive 15k annually, and have had a lot of problems with the driver side power window. I figure with the high miles, its worth the peace of mind for atleast the next two years?

I love my BBKs. If something goes wrong with your car you could always sell the BBK to fix it! Hahahahah
