So my a/c worked fine until it was hit in the rear qrter panel. Got it back from the shop in the winter so I didnt test the a/c till now. I brought it back and they said they recharged it and it holds a charge of 1.2 pounds but only blows hot air. They said they think its the compressor and I need a diagnostic from the dealer. Anyone had any similar a/c problems before i bring it to the stealership?

 

I haven't had any issues exactly like yours, but I have had to have the system charged when I was living in Texas. Car was less than two years old then. It wasn't that it was blowing hot air, it just wasn't blowing air as cold as I thought it should.

Minor issue - charged it and haven't had an issue since.

Is the pulley on the compressor spinning as the belt is spinning? If it's not, then your compressor could be bad. You can also check voltage to the clutch I believe - 12V when AC is on. It could also be a line pressure issue.
