Kumho Platinum just as good and much cheaper. 7000 miles and no perceptible wear...these are on the front and have Dunlop DRZZA1 on the back...these are dogs save your money these are expensive and not worth the trouble.

Good to know. My concern is that they're summer only. I'm in Northern NJ so summer times are probably not good for me as things get cold. I might have to stick with the Dunlops...

My Infinity dealer just told me about Hankook (Hancook) tires. Anyone ever hear of them or know anything about them ? he swears by them & says he has been doing all the road testing for all diff kind of tires for the G35 sedan & he said they stand up well.

You might be looking at the wrong Hankooks. The Ventus V12 Evo is what a lot of Driver members run and almost all of us love these tires. Best tire for under $200 INHO. I'm on my second set and love them. Check this link to a comparison on TR. If you want to compare touring tires like the Kumho's to Michelins, look at the Tirerack test where they tested them against the Michelin Primacy. The Primacy took 1st place, the Kumho 3rd.
I'm not saying the Kumho is a horrible tire....but IMHO if you buy a sports car, ya might as well put some performance meats on it!

The Kumho Platinum's aren't even a high perf summer tire, so the comparision to the Pilot Super Sports is irrelevant. As far as summer tires go, I definitely think the Pilots are the "benchmark", based on user reviews, track tests, and consumer reports. However, there are also tires out there that are very comparable as far as dry/wet handling, tread wear, and overall drive stability.

In the end, it all depends on HOW OFTEN you are using the tires for what they are really meant to be used for - track days, high speed cornering, and aggressive sport driving. This is when the real comparisons come into effect. Otherwise, I do not think slightly spirited highway driving will separate the Pilots from the other affordable (cheaper) sport tires on the market. And for this reason, I went with the Bridgestone RE760Sports ($640/set of 4). The other tire I really looked into was the Hankook V12 but they did not have the size I was looking for (235/45/18 and 255/40/18).

I will most likely be tracking my car on a road course maybe ONCE this summer, so the need for Pilots was not justified. In either case, I don't think you can go WRONG with a pair of Pilots, as someone just mentioned that these are the shoes that are worn by Corvettes, Ferraris, Porsches, and M-series.

Thanks to all for the input. I have an appt. tommorow to have the Hankook V4ES tires put on. didn't even know about the V12 Evo that "Blue Dream speaks of. Hope Im choosing right here. I live in the West & with the heat out here, dealer said tires last maybe 4 years. I just called the service guy & they dont even carry the V12. yikes ...
Should I go ahead with order ? Im taking a 300 mile roadtrip in a week & have to get all 4 done I leave...

Are you planning on having the dealer install your new tires? I have NEVER seen a dealer have prices as good as I could get at any number of fully reputable tire stores. You might want to call around and price check a bit before you sign on the line . . . unless you just want the comfort of using the dealership regardless of the price (which is Ok too).

The V12 is a summer tire, whereas the V4 is an All-Season tire. So, you need to base your decision off of those two factors right there... Summer tire vs All Season tire. There are pros and cons to both, google it. IMO, if you aren't going to see snow and do not care much about getting 40k miles out of your tire... get the SUMMER TIRE. Better drive performance.
