really noob jack question

tried searching but couldn't find the answer. i've never jacked up this car before using a floor jack, always used the standard jack that came with the car. I wanna jack up the front of my car (just one side). Can I do it by jacking up on the spot shown in the pic...using the craftsman 2.25 ton floor jack. thanks

Just use the forward pinch weld under the sideskirts and you won't have a problem.

The side skirts sometimes bend under the pressure of the jacks though...unless u use a piece of wood or a hockey puck to absorb the pressure.

^+1 the pinch welds have enough area around them for almost all hydraulic floor jacks with circular plates to lift the car without touching or damaging sideskirts, but make sure you are not in contact with SK when lifting.

else like redbaron said using a piece of wood or better yet a slit hockey puck will ensure even safer lifting.

+1 I just place a hockey puck on my jack and use the 4 corners

The only problem with lifting the car by the pinch welds using a jack, is that you can't put a jack stand there, so you're at the mercy of the jack holding the car up (not good).

Try lifting from the front center position, once the car is up, place the jack stand on the pinch weld and lower the car back down.

thanks for the responses guys. tried it at the pinch welds and they were just bending. didn't want to jack from the center position, although that would have been ideal, because my jack was too short. so i jacked up the car from the area right behind the pinch welds near the front tire. part of the area has this rubberish cloth (?) so it provided with good grip.
