Took a spin in two very nice cars yesterday.
First car was a 2010 bmw M3, what a machine, the dual clutch transmission was a thrill, the way the throttle blips between downshifts is pretty intoxicating, needless to say, out of my price range! Then I drove a 2008 G35s sedan 6mt, very nice car, but I found the shifter and the trans very notchy, and not very smooth, also, it made to me anyways, feel like the car is bigger then it really is. It makes me happy with my 5at purchase all over again.

^ glad you enjoyed one of em and obviously the '10 V8 M3 is a different beast altogether, but the G MT is a great MT if you are good at shifting, not putting you down but its super fun to drive and i dont feel that the tranny is "not very smooth" at all which would mean that something was up with the way you shifted or the tranny/clutch itself had some problems(synchros issue a bit common) and like 07-G35-MT/S said the faster you go the better it is. If the car is fine then how smooth a MT drives is upto the driver really.

Oh yea, that M3 was used, and still would probably command 50k or so. Ive driven and owned lots of manual cars, so its not a case of weather I know what im doing, but I dont own a 6mt G35 so that could be part of it. The G only had 19,000 miles on it, so I doubt anything was wrong with it either. I did get the feeling that the harder and faster you drove it, that things seemed smoother, but I also felt that I would go thru brakes and tires and gas and speeding tickets real fast also!! Not downing the car at all, so the 6mt lovers can calm down, its just an opinion.
