...father about purchasing a 2008 G(35). First off let me start right off the bat by telling you I am 17 years old, hence the assistance of my father in purchasing this beautiful ride (I couldn't do it on my own ).

The thing is, my favorite colors (as odd as it may be) are red and black. It just so happens my dad things my choice of a G35 with Garnet Ember exterior and Graphite (I think that's what the dealership calls it.. (Black Leather)) interior is a poor choice because "We won't be able to sell it. Who would want to buy a red car [in 5-10 years]?"

I could use some assistance in swaying my father towards my side of thinking (I absolutely LOVE this car). My question to you is will you help me? (Please )

By the way this will be my first G (if I get it that is).

I have to agree with your dad. Since he will be paying for your insurance, I am sure he would rather you learn how to drive (f**k up) a cheaper car.

 

He will be paying for insurance, but that's not the issue. I've already learned to drive with the junker i currently have. The argument isn't between which car but rather which color.

 

IF my dad was buying a G for me when i was 17 years old(NOT even a possibility), the last thing i would do would be to argue with him over color... You are a lucky kid to even have your father consider buying you such a nice car at this age, just get what he buys you since its his money and please drive it carefully.

I was on the same boat last year, don't argue. You're getting a great car an the last thing you want to do is bitch about the color.

 

I'm with everyone else on this. Dont argue with you dad about it. These cars are simply sexy in every color they are sold in. You are majorly lucky too. Either way good luck, but if you get one take care of it please.

 

I would take what ever dad gets ya, but I dont understand your dads logic in "no one will want to buy a red car in 5-10 years".

Kid stop being ungrateful and think about your dads wallet. Get the vehicle that has solid service history and a fair price. Appreciate what you have and drive the car with respect. If you have a crappy attitude i expect pictures of your car being wrapped around an object for showing off. Please watch this video and be safe out there, very nice car for a kid who is not even legal age or allowed to buy cigarettes let alone alchohol. TAKE ANY ******* COLOR YOU GET and learn to pull your own weight in life.

I was in your same boat 4 years ago when i got my G brand new. Except i was making 3/4 of the payment. But, even though i was paying for the car i had to follow my pops rules. I was only allowed to drive the car when he was with me for the first 3 months so i got used to it. I also had another car (97 lexus es300 with 275,000 miles on it) to drive to school and work. In the end, listen to your dad, especially since he is paying for the car and he is right, if/when you go to sell the car it is 10x easier to sell a black or silver car then a red car.

 

Yell at your dad and demand the color you want or you will run away. That usually works.

But all kidding aside, just listen to your father and appreciate what he's doing for you.

 

Guys thank you so much for your responses, you have made me think a bit more level headed and understand where he's coming from as well as appreciate the car I'm getting at only 17 years old.
