how to tell if a car has the bose system
#31
Hey mishmosh, yes I have read many of those articles but just can't help but notice the flat sounds of the system and when its not flat its piercing or not clear In my 04 maxima with a Bose system I added 3 10's and was quite happy. In this car I find myself always adjusting the few settings available and never being happy with the results.
I have been reading up on the jbl processor and it seems quite interesting. I really want to change the speakers and add subs but it seems as though it may not produce optimal sound either, although some posts here same people are quite happy with that change. Someone also posted info on the jbl digital sound processor which seems like the best alternative but I'm not sure if its worth it or I will still need to changer the interior speakers when it's all said and done. Has anyone tried it with the stock speakers in our gen? Also is anyone aware of alternatives to this processor?

I personally don't think any signal processor is going to turn the stock bose speakers into something better. I think the system is as good as it's going to get with the addition of a powered sub.
If you are going the route of adding a processor, you should at least upgrade the speakers/amp to complete the process. I know someone posted about the JBL processor but I do not recall seeing any followup on how it did with the stock speakers and then with upgraded components. The JBL is not cheap. There is also the JL Audio Cleansweep system for you to use the stock headunit with aftermarket speakers/amps.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you've obviously never heard a REALLY good sound system, or even a half-decent one at that.
