VDC and SLIP ON, Tranny kick hard in different gear 2008 Xs

Hi,
I've just had a problem with my 2008 G35xS AT today. I've start my car and drive 100m and VDC and SLIP come on. I've read on some post that may be my Brake fluid that is low but the bigger problem is that the car shift badly. Each shift was hard and give a big kick.

I've finaly stop the car completely and restart it, all light is off now and the car is shifting correctly. What is that ? I mean brake fluid doesn't interact with tranny shifting. That car was acting very strange while I driving.

I'm on stock 18'' brand new winter tire.

Does anyone have an idea what is wrong ?

How many miles/km do you have? This should be a warranty issue.

I have 65 000km.
This is the first time it happen since I own the car. (since 8 month).
And I confirm that my brack fluid level is between MAX an MIN. so it not a too low brake lfuid problem

Check your transmission fluid. It may be very low or empty.

Ok I didn't check the tranny fluid level for now. I just drive test the car today and nothing happen, it shift perfectly normal and I try couple of snow spin and the car react normaly, I see slip flashing and stop as normal.

It look like I get stock in the slipping mode, shifting was completely ****up and each shift giving a kick even when the car downshifting automatically. I was unable to turn off the VCD light with the button.
I hope this story didn't broke something ?!

Tomorrow I'll try to get an appointment to my local dealer and talk about this problem. I have to do oil change maybe I can do a tranny oil change too

I'll keep this thread updated, maybe it could help other in the future.

Don't just let them change your tranny fluid unless it's due for a change. It's expensive and they'd most likely be more than happy to take your money needlessly.

SLIP VDC on after Rack and Pinion Replacement

Hey guys,

I'm new to these forums, I had a leak from my 03 G35's rack and pinion. I got it replaced, and immediately the "SLIP and VDC" came on. The steering wheel was little offf center after R&R of the rack so i had it aligned. VDC and SLIP are still on. a friend suggested to take it to dealer because he said the steering wheel sensor might of messed up. Any experiences to anyone on this?

You're in the 2nd generation ('07- current) sedan section. You might do better asking this over in the 1st generation section:

or, if it's a coupe, here:

Hopeing to revive this thread

So my 07 g35 AT at 6k rpms will bog crazy for a second and the slip and vdc light come on with hard shifting aswell. My car already has had a ses light for an 02 sensor being bad and causing a bad A/F ratio, turn off the car and start it it's fine. Tranny fluids ok brake fluids ok, can the 02 sensor be causing that??? Or is it a sensor problem ???please if anyone knows and can help please reply.

REPLACE YOUR BRAKES!

I had this problem 2 months ago. No one could tell me why VDC or SLIP was turning off after driving only a few hundred feet in the morning.

In Manual mode sometimes my gear shifts are hard. sometimes. But i believe this is not related to anything VDC/SLIP.

Either way, it is because the brake fluid level is too low and when you drive forward the fluid pulls back in the reservoir and the car thinks it has little to no fluid - so it then turns off safety features that should otherwise remain enabled. I literally replaced my low brake pads on the rear tires - those lights never came on again.

Now if your brakes are not low at all, then it sounds like you've got too little fluid to begin with.

That's how i fixed my problem, unknowingly, replacing my brakes solved a problem I or no one else could figure out. I thought my Transmission was effed.

So that's causing my hard shifting and slip and vdc light?...
