I wonder how accurate is the mpg calculated by the trip computer. I haven't done a manual calculation yet with fill up, but whats your experience with the mpg shown in the trip computer?

depends on how often you reset it, but ive found it to be pretty accurate on a tank by tank basis.

I resetet after each time I fill up the car because at times it can give you higher readings or even lower based on how your driving habits were.

Maybe it's cause I have yet to reset mine, but no matter how I drive the car, it always says 19.2mpg. I'm going to reset it this weekend and check it out too.

with gas mileage being the #1 concern these days, I wasn't all to impressed with the way this feature works on this car... I had a gs350 before and every time you filled the car up it would reset the mileage you drove for your last fill up... and the gas mileage would reflect high/low efficiency changes promptly.

Very accurate! I reset every top off and it's always .? more than my manual calculation. IDK if the 20Gl tank takes into consideration topoff or just to a certain point of the fuel tank.

i dont pay much mind to that reading since its more depressing than informative imo. Even worse is the active mpg reading.

As my buddy (a master tech for Nissan/Infiniti) said to me, "Did you buy this car for the performance or for the fuel economy?"

Without a doubt, I have always found the trip computer to be dead-on accurate. I always reset it and my trip odometer after each fill up and compare it to the actual calculated mpg based on odometer / gallons used to fill. This should be of no surprise though, as the car computer calculates it from actual fuel injector pulse data. Assuming your injectors are clean and functioning properly, it's basically a very accurate and straight forward calculation for the computer.
