Displaying Galaxy Nexus screen in non-nav dash

Now I know there has been a couple similar threads on this, but just wanted to see if I can get any specific advice. I'm trying to display my Galaxy Nexus display on my non-nav dash LCD. micro USB on phone is the only hookup, and as yall know the auxilary in is RCA jacks in our consoles.

I started by doing a $7 experiment taking the micro USB to USB cable that came with the phone, and using a coupler to couple the male USB to the male USB end of a RCA to USB cord. Hooked that up and no dice.

I see there's a cable out there that's micro USB to HDMI, made for this phone. If I get that and somehow hook it up to an HDMI to RCA cable, could that work? It's a $35 experiment so I wanted to ask before buying.

Any thoughts, even flames/insults etc, much appreciated!

HDMI to RCA is a no no, bad idea and BIG waste of money. I know someone did what you are trying to do using their HTC phone. Search HTC EVO within this sub-forum and you should find something

Yeah theDigital to analog conversion is a pain. Lets just hope cars in the future put in HDMI connections. Just think, you could potentially control your phone via the HDMI link as well. Here's to hoping.

Quick search on amazon yielded this

http://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Composite-S-Video-Converter-3RCA/dp/B0047PDBP0/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1326307650&sr=1-1 http://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Composite-S-Video-Converter-3RCA/dp/B0047PDBP0/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1326307650&sr=1-1

Looks interesting.

Back to consult the tech gurus on this forum. I bought a composite vid + audio to HDMI converter box, cables, power inverter, etc. to display my phone on the dash LCD. I feel like a noob for saying this but I searched for the unspoken-about mod for a while and never found it, perhaps my search methods aren't on point or I'm too drunk. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
