New 2008 X Owner - A couple questions

I am new to Infiniti, and purchased a 2008 G35x in November. My previous car was a 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 (274HP AWD 6MT). I love the G, but have noticed 2 things that are annoyances, and wonder if it is just my car or if this is the way it is.
1. The radio controls on the steering wheel to change your station....I have to push the button down to go from channel 1 to 2, instead of pushing it up which would be more intuitive. Is this how it is supposed to be, and can it be changed?
2. I have noticed that the heat really blasts out hot air when I first start driving, even if the temperature setting is at like 70 (I live near Fargo, ND, so we are cold in the winter). After I have driven for like 10 minutes, the air is not very warm anymore, and to get the same level of heat output, I need to turn it up to like 80. Not sure if this is controlled by a thermostat somewhere in the cabin, but it is pretty annoying. Is this normal? Seems like I am constantly needing to change the temperature control to keep a consistent level of heat.

Since I am sure people will ask, my 2008 had 28k miles on it, and I paid 23k, but got better than expected on my trade.

Welcome! post some pics of your new ride!
1. no way to change sorry
2. that sounds like something is messed up.. it shouldn't be doing that, make sure it's set to 'auto' and the light is on. Sometimes if its misbehaving (same way in wife's altima) I noticed the fan settings were fiddles with and 'auto' was turned off.

Got the same ride, and it takes some getting used to for the steering wheel controls but not a big deal when you get used to it.

1. Easy fix: make a hard turn. The buttons will now work intuitively.

Welcome to the G community. i am not sure about your problems and you might want to have the dealers look at that.

Try turning off auto and let the engine warm up before turning up the fan, then turn the fan down to a more reasonable level once the cabin temperature is cozy for you

Same year, same model, same mileage, no issues with the temerature controls, you may want to ask the dealership about yours.
