How long did your battery last?

Just replaced my OEM battery two weeks ago. It had a date on it from Dec. 2006. Mine lasted a little bit over 5 years. I had 60k miles on my odometer.
It still worked when I replaced it, but the battery tested bad by three independent shops (2 Advance Auto, 1 Autozone.) I've also noticed it not starting up as fast and somewhat stuttered a bit. It's really cold in Boston, and I don't want to be stuck out in the middle of nowhere with a dead battery. Better be safe than sorry.
I bought the battery (group 35) from Costco for $65.99 and installed it myself with the battery grease and felt washers. Now I don't have to worry about my battery for a long while.

Maybe, in addition to battery longevity reports, folks should include info as to whether or not they have aftermarket and/or additional electronics installed in their car, and how frequently they use the battery power (ie.engine off) for more than a few minutes. I'm just wondering about playing a big sub-amp'd stereo, leaving headlights on, etc.
For the record, I'm totally stock electronics, and I almost never use the battery with engine off.
