Looked around and did not find any pic of 2008 g35 with blacked out oem tailpipes or aftermarket ones.

Thinking about painting my stock tailpipes any opinions or pictures?

 

I've tried googling for pics of black tailpipes w/ no luck either
I may just take the leap & give it a shot. My G37 w/ stainless cans and tips stand out against my pretty much blacked-out G, it looks fine as is, but blacking out the cans & tips should go pretty well w/ the rest of the car. I'm thinking about using VHT caliper paint, it's worked well for my brakes so I assume it should be fine on the exhaust. I've got some extra gloss black vinyl laying around so I may lay it on there for a mock up to see if I like the look then paint it if I like it. If I get that vinyl on I'll post pics for a reference

let me know how it goes. i plan on plasti dipping my tips to see how they look tomorrow and if they turn out nice ill probably get them painted.

 

I didn't pain the tips, but did my Invidia cans using bbq grill paint.

Actually I've got some extra PlastiDip too, that would be easier for a mock up so I'll give it a go.

Probably not the best picture but i used plastidip on my oem ones, i did a muffler delete and had the shop just weld the oem tips.

 

Nice personalizations there. What wheels are those, if you don't mind me asking, and could you provide a sound clip of how your car sounds with a muffler delete? I'd like to compare it to mine, with magnaflow mufflers.

BTW, did you just plastidip your window trim?

they are 20 msr 93's that i had powdercoated matte black. I will record a soundclip tommorow, honestly it sounds very deep and throaty, almost like a v8.

no, for the window trim i used gloss black vinyl and wrapped all the chrome

That really looks nice, I think that may be exactly what I will do, still keep the stainless tips shiny but paint the cans, really cleans up the back end visually. Wondering how well that paint will stick to stainless, you think it will hold up?

 

I used BBQ grill paint and it's held up better than i expected --- no cracks, peels or scrapes.

I did, however, rough up the cans with fine grit sandpaper prior.
