Windshield Wipers
#16
Meh . . . I'm sorry, but I just can't justify paying those prices for some wipers. I just use the 'Goodyear Assurance' ones that Costco carries for 7 bucks a piece. They're one piece units and last plenty long enough to be of good value for me, so frankly from my perspective, this all seems like a bit of of overthinking to me.
One thing you need to remember as well, the springs in the wiper arms do wear out over time and could cause the blades not to sit firmly on the windshield. This did happen to our Corolla and now our Volvo.

The wiper sizes are:
Driver: 26 in
Passenger: 16 in
I honestly think all wiper blades have the same (rubber) in a way because they will eventually dry up and crack. Save your money and don't spend more than $20 for a pair of wiper blades. Duralast, Bosch or Valuecraft at Autozone are pretty decent, I bought a pair on EBAY that looks like the OEM ones for $9.99 free shipping.

I already bought them and installed them on my car. They work pretty good as long as they wipe the water off my windshield. Also, I apply RainX compoud to my front/rear windshields after I wash my car so when I drive the water just slides off, so there is little effort for the wiper blades. Unless you live in areas that have heavy snowfall then I recommend buying something that has higher quality for your safety. I took a picture of blade for you guys, they are designed like the oem ones (frameless).
Just select 26in for driver & 16in for passenger

I have different point of view on the OEM. Ours wasn't clearing the center of the driver's side when we bought it CPO in 2009. Tried a couple of refills, and then got the dealer to replace the entire blade assembly. Still didn't work.
Bosch Icons for the last year or so and the window clears like it should. The only quibble is that it doesn't clear all the way to the far left like the OEM, but it's a small price to pay to be able to see straight out the front.

Bosch Icon for all 2007 thru 2013 G sedans. Driver side 26A Passenger side 16A. They are usually on promotion at Autozone and sometimes PepBoys buy one and get the other 50% off. I kept my oem blades in the Bosch boxes in the trunk so I can one day buy the oem refills and have a good set of spares just in case. But for the price, and the look compared to stock, I think I will buy another set of the Icons when these wear out. I have no complaints so far and have gone thru winter just fine. IMO any brand name aftermarket blade will suffice. I dont do Duralast parts as they only seem to last 6months at a time from wipers to pads and rotors.

Joining this thread late, but I have a question about the aftermarket blade replacements (the ones that replace the whole wiper): On my G the wiper arm attaches to the *side* of the wiper blade assembly... not the top. Aside from the fact that the top mount looks stupid, I don't thing the washer fluid will clear the highest part of the wiper and there will be more wind noise since the attachment point is now above the level of the hood... are there any aftermarket wipers that have the side mount clip like the OEMs?
Thanks

lockon, if you have an 07-13 G sedan, the Bosch Icons I listed above in post #24 will fit. No question. Just remove the plastic clip/adapter piece in your wiper arm and snap the new blades in. If you're still in doubt, post several pics of what youre talking about, and I will walk you through the install. Autozone will install them for you for free if you buy the blades from them. The piece youre talking about is just an adapter to make the blades side mount. Just remove it and the new ones snap in, in like 5 seconds. Just go to Autozone and ask them to install your blades, stand right there and see just how easy it is for when it comes time to replace them in the future. Good luck.

Great thread. I will have them swap to my OEM wipers at the 60K service. Hopefully I can get them to throw in the actual blade for free since the refils will not fit on the aftermarket crap on there now.
I have had a few sets of rainx blades. No problem at speeds of 100+ in the rain. The pain in the *** is that the end caps always seem to let the blade refill out. So you have loose rubber flopping around until you push it back in or you lose it on the road. I also experienced the passanger side bottom corner not being hit by the blade.
I tried the autozone rain x wannabee and it worked well for a year until I sold the truck. I should note, this was on the back of my tahoe so wind and curved glass was not and issue but dirt build up was. Cleaned it off perfectly every time.
