New to Forum.. Looking for infomation

Hello Everyone!!

I am new to this forum, as I was directed here by a friend of mine who has a leased g37 coupe. I will soon be in the market for another car, and I saw some prices for used G35 sedans 07-08 in the general price range I think I am going to be in when the time comes. I decided to join to get some information about these cars, their reliability and durability, considering I'll probably be getting something over 55k miles on it and 5 years old. Not that I don't think they are good cars, I just want to learn more about things to know, common occurrences and such before I make my official decision on what I am going to try and purchase.

Looking forward to a lot of good reads, and information!!

Hello and welcome to G35Driver!

Lots of good info here. Do lots of reading, use the search function to look for any particular info you're seeking, and if you have a specific question after all that, then ask away.

Welcome JPerk! Information we have, and a whole lot of opinions. The best information you'll find on our stickys at the top of the coupe/sedan pages. Basically only the '05 thru '06 coupes/sedans with MT have the OC issues. If you can find a clean sedan with around 50K miles, a clean CARFAX and service records you'll have found the right car. Mileage most of us get is 300 miles per tank which is reasonable considering the power and cool sound we get while driving. Good Luck finding the right G for you!
Gary

In general the V36 sedan is reliable with no major problem. The engine is pretty tuned from factory, so you really don't get much significant gain from bolt on mod. MPG depends on how heavy is your left foot and driving condition. I get about 18 to 23 mpg on the avg (mine is 6MT).

There is no other Japan made RWD sports sedan with 6MT, and it has a great V6 with over 300hp. What's not to like?

If 6MT is your choice, one of the complain is the clutch, its heavy and engagement point is high with short window.

Oh, and the sedan don't get fold down backseat, only trunk pass through. The Bose audio system doesn't have powerful bass, but it still decent enough IMO. I am too old for loud rock music ;-)

Welcome to the G community!!! I have an 08 and no major problems yet. I am still under warranty (maybe voided by now lol). Rides pretty smooth and fun to drive.

The gas mileage on these cars are 19 if you get an AUTO. I had a transmission problem with mine outside of warranty, my wife drives it and it is never driven roughly. Cost me a ton of money ... other than that great car we love it.

I spent a year looking at the G35, BMW 135i, and the Lexus IS350.

I picked the G for a few reasons. First its a port injection motor and not direct. Much easier to work on myself, and it was the cheaper of the lot (more for less IMO).

BMW is NOT AS reliable (yes I have owned them in my family not just saying that) and the Lexus just didn't have the connection to the road I wanted.

So I got a call from my brother in law and he said I had to see this car that just came into his dealership... first 10 mins with it and I was like bam! done. I just had a feeling about it. No clunks, rattles, pings, grinds. Came with an almost brand new set tires for summer and winter and it was clean. Picked it up the next day.

No problems to report. Took it to Infiniti right away to get it looked over. They said it needed nothing but they recommended I change the fluids and filters. Ebayed the filters, got the fluids changed in a day.

Very happy with it.
