Please help!!! Service Engine Soon 07 G35X - P1168 & P0051
I recently received the following DTC codes on my 2007 G35X:
P1168 - Possible Causes:
- Faulty Air Fuel Ratio Sensor 1 Bank 2
- Air Fuel Ratio Sensor 1 Bank 2 harness is open or shorted
- Air Fuel Ratio Sensor 1 Bank 2 circuit poor electrical connection
P0051 - Possible Causes:
- Faulty Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 2 Sensor 1
- Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 2 Sensor 1 harness is open shorted
- Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 2 Sensor 1 circuit poor electrical connection
- Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 2 Sensor 1 fuse
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)
After reading some forums it looks like the O2 Sensors either actually need replacing or the ECM needs resetting.
I am big noob when it comes to working on my car but have a friend who knows his way around a garage. He's offered to help me replaced the O2 sensors but:
A. We are trying to figure out which sensors exactly need replacing
B. Need to understand where they are
C. Can this problem actually be fixed by resetting the ECM (as I've read on other forums)
I've read some members mentioning the Pedal method and other suggesting disconnecting the negative cable for about 20 mins.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!!!

I've had the same code p1168 for maybe 3 weeks now for my 07 g35. Resetting the ECU won't fix the problem if your sensors actually need to be replaced. I scanned mine when the CEL light first appeared and cleared but CEL light reappeared a few days later. Reset it manually with the pedals and same thing, so came to the conclusion that it needs replacing. My scanner read 'closed loop bank 2' for p1168, which means (if I remember correctly) is the upstream/pre cat sensor on the exhaust manifolds. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I haven't rlly looked into it yet nor have I changed my sensor but will most likely work on it this weekend. Might have more information then. Hope this helps for now
