Maintaining my G35, all stock
Hey all, very conservative driver, looking to make my car last as long as I can. 08 g35x sedan. Pricey to maintain a luxury vehicle, especially at the dealer but the expense is worth it for what the car gives to you in return.
Recently dropped $500 on 30k mile maintenance for my car and more was recommended but will hold off for a later time. Just want get some opinions on what is necessary and what is not.
Hydraulic brake fluid flush - $140. Coolant flush - $140. Transmission service - $200. Transfer case service - $90. I might get at least $50 knocked off with some coupons and discounts. I also changed both my engine air filters at 28.5k miles and now I am at 33.5k miles.
There is not a set interval on when is the ideal time to change the filters, just when you notice a performance decrease but I never take the car off of suburban driving, nor past 60mph on the highway to notice. The manual also says it depends on the climate you live in (if its dusty, then change it more frequently). I am in the northern suburbs of Chicago (Skokie, Glenview) so I would guess every 10k miles to change the filters?
Any other maintenance tips would be greatly appreciated. I really love my car, wash and take care of it as much as possible, garage kept.
Thanks!

If you want to maintain your car at a dealer, I recommend taking it to Nissan... I am sure there is a Nissan dealer on Golf road in Skokie. The prices at the Nissan or dealer are much better, you just get the world class experience that Infiniti gives you, but that's the trade off if you want dealer maintenance at a better price...

Change those filters every 15-20k depending on the condition of those air filters too...
Use this to help you save even more money!

You might be over-maintaining your car and overpaying for maintenance.
Fluid changes are not that difficult to do by your self and don't cost hundreds of dollars.
I would do a visual inspection of air filter before changing it. It it's not visually dirty, it's fine, no need to change it every 10k. There are aftermarket filters that don't ever require to be changed, just once in a while blow the dirt off of them and that's it.
My fluid intervals are:
Engine oil every 5-7k (full synthetic)
Diff fluid every 30k
Trans fluid 3qts every 30 k
Spark plugs every 100k.
Everything else (belts, coolant, brake fluid, bushings, shocks/struts) as it wears out, no set intervals.
I drive my car allot, so the intervals are mile based, if you don't drive it allot, they should be time based as fluids deteriorate with time and use.

I have the same car - 2008 G35x - and I'm just about to tap my 200,000 miles mark. I'd recommend staying true to 100% synthetic and changing it early. Filters as needed, fluids as needed, do them yourself if you know the value of a dollar. Just remember that certain things WILL go wrong no matter what maintenance you do on the car.
I'd really stress that oil changes, and addressing problems immediately will pretty much make your car go longer than you'll keep it. Headlights are the only disappointment I've had.

Having Nissan take care of your service needs is just smart! Ever since my Infiniti stealership quoted $500 to service my AT (30K miles) I never went back for anything other than recalls. Buy the best synthetic oil/filters and change every 4K miles, that alone will extend the life of what you drive!

The price for what Nissan dealer is charging for the services I posted originally are less in some places and more in other places, totaling out to the same amount, basically. Next oil change of mine is in a couple thousand miles and a helpful member advised me to go full synthentic (last few oil changes I had my dealer do it, I don't know if they use full synthetic at all) and a very good mobil 1 engine air filter set. My current filters are Nissan OEM and self installed at 28.5 k. Now at 33k and still performing well. Might replace every 10k it seems.
