P0014 p0024

I'm having codes P0014 and P0024 on my 2007 G35 Journey and live in Los Angeles California. Does anyone know a shop in my area that can take care of the problem? From what I've read I have to replace the valve timing covers. The dealer will probably charge an arm and a leg for the work and I'm looking for a more affordable way to have the covers replaced. Any help is appreciated.

Hey, I own a 2007 G35x and I'm in the same boat as you. I've driven a couple thousand miles with those two codes and I really haven't had any problem so far. I keep clearing the codes and it throws them back in about 20 miles however. Apparently, from what I've researched, the variable exhaust valve timing solenoid relies on oil pressure, and when the engine oil isn't changed at recommended intervals, it gets plugged up by sludgy old oil. So, here's what I've been recommended. Before you spend a couple grand to have your timing covers replaced, try replacing your oil at more frequent intervals (like every 3000 miles) a few times, clearing the codes each time you do an oil change. If after a few oil changes the codes keep coming back, unfortunately the timing covers would have to be replaced since they have failed. Also, I was recommended to run Nissan ester oil. I haven't had success yet, but apparently the issue isn't too serious, except for the fact that you live in California and those two codes can cause you to fail the smog test (I live in Hawaii and we don't have smog tests so I don't have to worry about that however). Let me know if you ever get any success in solving the issue. Good luck!
