Welp i knew i didnt like seeing that six digit mark the other day (100000 miles).. I didnt even hit 100100 yet and the limping and service engine soon light blinked/luminated. Went to my local autozone had them run the scanner and it stated that cyclinder 5 was misfiring. Next day to the shop, valve cover gasket went and oil soaked plugs, coil on cylinder #5 went bad so i just told them to change them all for an additional 125 a piece (now im up to $1400). Got a call today that i guess the 2007 is on the border with the valve covers being all one piece. They are now saying both valve covers need to be replaced, SICKKK😎... Now im in 1600 plus tax.
Anyone else have these problems with their v36 yet?
They also said that the air snorkles from the mass air sensor and throttle plate have dry rot on them and suggest i do them soon but i told them i will be holding off on those. Does anyone know what these snorkles look like or the part # for them?
Man that's some luck right there. You can probably save yourself a good amount of $$$ if you do the work yourself, if you're up for it. Those parts too replace aren't that difficult and can be done in an afternoon taking your time.
Get the part #s from the dealer and check out Rockauto for prices...you'll see a difference.

Got no patience for that kind of stuff honestly. As for the snorkles, if i find out what they are i will do them myself.
Guys at the shop are great, they were pissed when they found out the whole covers needed to be replaced because they knew i was already in $1200 already, plus they knew i just dropped 700 and change back in july for all my fluids and plugs to be changed (i brought them the material/parts).They said theyre gonna give me the covers for the price the dealer is charging them. It is what it f#!%ng is i guess lol.
No offense, but that bill, even if you don't have patients to do it yourself, is kind of your fault. There's absolutely zero reason to just "go ahead and change all 6" coil packs. Those things are expensive and its not a degrading part; they either work or they don't. You gain nothing by changing the other ones.
If you could get your old parts back, you can probably get around $3-400 for the old 5.
I just spoke to one of the mechanics and he said they need to be changed since oil dowsed them. I told him to keep the 5 old ones for me. But as of yesterday he did give me a choice to keep the old coils in there or replace them. I really dont know much about cars so i have no idea why he wouldnt give me the choice of keeping the old ones in
Well i just called them and said something about what he said about the coils today VS yesterday and he said it was my choice to do them all (which it was), but when i brought them up earlier today when he called about the valve cover news, he said they needed or should be changed (i cant remember) but im leaning towards him saying "needed" because they were already put in already

If they're already in, then just leave it and ask for your old parts. Legally he has to give em to you. If you ask him to change them back, he'll charge you for labor and it'll be a mess. Just get the parts and eBay em to try to recoup some dough.
Didnt post on here yesterday after i got the car back but good news they reused the old coils for me even when i told them to change them out and called them to tell them reuse the old ones if they didnt put the new ones in yet but they said the new ones were already in when i spoke to them in the morning yesterday so idk if they took them out for me or never had them in yet and had a soft heart that day and didnt feel like F'ing me over. Either way im still gonna use the shop but keep my eyes and ears open more than i should.
Are the air snorkles theyre talking about those accordian looking intake boots going to the air filter? If so, there is no dry rot on them what-so-ever.

I feel like that's the only thing they could be talking about. Don't you dare spend $400 on two rubber coupler hoses tho.
