Driver's door exterior unlock button not working

The button you push on the outside door handle on my driver's door stopped working.

For about a week, it only worked if I pushed it really hard, then stopped working altogether.

Anyone know where to buy a replacement part, what the part is called, and the process to replace?

I'm hoping it's just a matter of switching out either the button or handle. After 9 years in this car, using the key fob to unlock just seems like too much work. :P

By 'button you push on the outside door handle' do you mean the part that swivels which is around the interior door handle? If so, that is connected to a small rod on the inside of the door panel. When I bought my G, both were disconnected so the car had to be electronically locked/unlocked to get out. Looking at the small rod which hooks on that part, it's no surprise they fall out and disable the lock.

I mean the little black button on the door handle on EXTERIOR of the car.

The thing you push that unlocks the door (and beeps when you do).

I found the name for it, "door handle request switch."

FWIW, it works perfectly fine on the trunk and the passenger door, and has worked for 9 years up until about a month ago. I've also double checked the settings in the menu and the intelligent key door unlock is enabled.

Mine has started recently not working on the first push anymore. Now, I have to press it like 4-5 times for it to unlock in the morning and same with the key fob. But after the first unlock, it works on the first push for the rest of the day.

Still can't find a part or part number.

Anyone know where to start?

Or is there a fix by opening up the guts of the door?

Is it not part of the outer door handle? You have to pick the your color to get the correct part number.

Thanks! I'm thinking that would probably do it since it's the whole part.

Now anyone have any clue how to install or uninstall it? If I can access it, maybe it's as simple as a loose wire connection!

Ended up getting the handle on Ebay, but didn't have a chance to install it. Gave it to the guy who bought the car off me yesterday.

Upgraded to a 2015 Chevy SS. So far I'm loving the magnetic ride suspension and 415hp!

Sorry this so late but.....
If the key Fob is in the same hand when you push the entry button it will NOT work.. Put the Fob in your pocket never in your hands ..🙋
