HomeLink Rear View Mirror from newer model Nissan/Infiniti?
Hi Guys - I just found out my 2007 G35 sendan homelink mirror doesn't work with my new place, which has the latest Liftmaster Security + 2.0. I would like to program the garage opener to the mirror and not have a remote to mess with.
So question is, will a newer model nissan or infinity mirror with homelink be able to swap directly in a 2007 G35? Or will I need some kind of modifications to the mount and wiring?

yes, MyQ could be a solution, but I'm just a renter and want to make it the lease intrusive and not bother my landlord.
They gave me a remote, so they've done their part of giving me access. So setting it up with the homelink in my car is just something for me and don't want to involve them.
That's why I figure, if I get a newer updated mirror with homelink, this should get me to where I want to be. So does anyone know if I can just get a newer mirror and install it?

Just curious how you know it's definitely not compatible? I ran into a similar issue with my '04 and a Homelink light switch and discovered that there was a Homelink-related change to the mirrors somewhere around 2006. I'm surprised your're having an issue programming your '07. I had planned on upgrading to a newer mirror too, but since my ancient garage door opener works fine with it I sort of gave up. I would think as long as the connector and wiring are compatible you could upgrade to a newer one. You might even be able to re-wire one that has a different connector, as long as you know what each wire is for.
Having to take out and unlock my phone to open the door would annoy me.

@Mike - so with the current remote, I tried to program it to my car, without any luck, and even tried to clear out all programming by holding down the two most outer buttons and starting again. I know my homelink works because I was able to program my previous place which also had a Liftmaster unit with the purple learn button.(older version?)
So then, I tested the current remote by programming it to my friend's 2016 E series Mercedes and that worked. So that's why I'm guessing I need a newer version of the homelink mirror from one of the newer model Nissan/Infiniti

Just depends on how much you want to spend .
OP my guess is the unit is self contained and the wires just feed power .
You can always check https://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/G35/Sedan/2007_G35_Sedan/ .
If you can't program your existing one, and really want to swap it , try to find a dealer that accepts returns on new electronics in case it doesn't work.
Don't get stuck with it bro.
