Cruise control set flashing

This happened as I was driving and it goes away at times when I turn the car on again but I wanna know what the problem is and if i could fix it

Put it in diagnostic mode and see what code it throws back.

Turn ignition off.
Start the engine.
Wait 5 seconds.
Now you have exactly 10 seconds to press Resume/Accelerate 5 times followed by Set/Coast 5 times.

Now you are in diagnostic mode, if there are no problems it will show code 55, if there are any other codes post them.

You should use a stopwatch to make sure you are waiting 5 seconds before trying to press the buttons to get into diagnostic, the time frame matters, if you don't get all those buttons pressed within the 10 second window just do it over again, it's easy with practice.
