Just got my son's '08 g35 Sport back from engine swap. I'm hearing a whirring sound appears to be coming from below the shift boot area. I have attempted to attach a couple video clips to try to relay the sound, although road noise and the engine make it a bit hard to isolate the sound its making.

There is a whirring, warbling sound coming from the gear shift area of the tranny, just after an engine swap, what might be some possible causes?

The donor engine was out of an automatic so that mechanic said he had to get a special tool to line up the clutch:

Thanks for the heads up. I wasn't aware that all uploads are private by default. I've made them public. However, I've heard back from the Infiniti technician on what the cause of the noise is. The boot below the shifter boot had torn and was flapping against the drive shaft. A replacement boot is $30 and there's about an hour of labor to replace it.

 

NVM probably the dust boot under the shifter, see next comment.

 

If it's the dust seal on the shifter then he tore it when he was taking apart your car and you shouldn't be charged for something they broke.
