2007 Sedan Oxygen Sensor Computer issue

Have a 2007 G35x Sedan that we are trying to sell.

The check engine light was on, so brought it to a shop. They first said that the oxygen sensors and heat sensor need to be replaced and that it should cost around 650$ with work and all and that it should be done in a half a day.

Then they call back and say having trouble finding the parts and it's more expensive that he thought and going to be around $1,000 and take another day to find the part since it was a Sunday.

Then Tuesday early on he tells us it will be ready by the evening. About an hour later he calls back and says the check engine light keeps coming on and that we have to wait 2 more days for a guy to come from the Infiniti Dealership to specifically fix this computer problem, which will cost about another $100 and take 2 more days until he can come. Supposedly his "Infiniti guy" told him yea, this is a regular issue and the computer or whatever needs to be reprogrammed.

So now, it went from $650 to at least $1100 and went from one day to 5 days.

Is this guy screwing with us or just completely incompetent? Or is this really such an issue with this model ?

I don;t know the codes that came up, but assuming its the ones for O2 sensors and ambient heat sensor or idle heat sensor.......

Obviously, I do not know a whole lot about cars.

thanks

Your mom's boyfriend
1100 is a lot of money for a couple of sensors.

I would sell the car at market price - minus $1000 and sell it as is.

Or find another mechanic and pay him to diagnose it , and buy the parts yourself and DIY.

I just bought 2 new Denso Upstream sensors ($113 a piece) (the ones in the headers and are the wideband) for $245 on RockAuto yesterday. The downstream sensors are cheaper at $65 a piece on thre also.
The downstream is easily accessed but the upstream and be a bit tough.
