I know it's not 'part' of the discussion, but i did the TransGo kit yesterday. $200 for the kit and $60 for 6 bottles of Idemitsu Type S at $8/quart. Process is a little hard when done on the jack stands but it's doable. Worst part is putting the valve body back so i used my jack to jack it up in there. Also, the instructions show one type of separator plate for drilling and it shows older type when mine was newer and a little different so that made it hard to locate the proper drilling spots. And of course, those piston springs are very tricky to replace but got them in.
The trans shifts somewhat faster now but i'll reset the adaptation maps today from ECM and TCM and relearn them. I'll report back on the effects of this kit.

when I did mine in 2018 it was honestly the best upgrade I did for the car ever. Loved the snappy shifts. Sold the car and the new buyer easily put 100k miles on the transmission no problem (160k >260k ) before the gallery gaskets gave out.

I drove it today for a bit and it shifts normal on low-mid throttle changes but kicks hard on redline shifts.. I do have a solid top diff mount but i'm wondering if i should upgrade the u-joints to avoid breaking them.. Also, has anyone busted their axles from this mod?

There are FI guys that make way more power than stock that have this mod and I never heard of problems. So I assume it's plenty safe enough for NA cars especially if you don't drive like this everywhere you go. I assume you'd spin the tires before you'd break u-joints or axles. There's still some slip in the transmission too. Just way less than with the grandpa shift setup.

Ok, then I'll go ahead and reset the ECM and TCM adaptation maps so they could relearn on this mod.
