New LSD in my G35S 6MT

Hi everyone,

I replaced a wheel hub that I thought to be the root of a loud grinding noise from my rear end, but my mechanic has just informed me that in reality my differential is on its way out. I was curious if anyone knows what cars share the LSD found in the '08 G35S 6MT? I was planning on grabbing one from a junkyard or on eBay, but any advice pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Here's the gear ratio chart, everything was offered with a VLSD but the input flange and stub shafts might need to be swapped depending on which vehicle you get it from. Input shaft will be obvious due to the different bolt pattern, stub shaft will be less obvious, count teeth and measure the thickness of the flange. Some used a thicker flange and it takes a longer bolt.

Thank you for your response! So if I find one with the same gear ratio, theoretically I should just be able to swap in my old input flange and stub shaft from the replaced diff? Or should I just look for that longer bolt?

I appreciate you, I’ve been a long time lurker of your advice on this forum.

For the stub shafts just get the longer bolt, way easier even though the stub shafts are easy to pull I would just go with the bolts. Not 100% sure if the tooth count and diameter are the same but I THINK they are.

I went and bought a used replacement differential and somehow managed to get one that doesn't work. Maybe I'm reacting too quickly, but I swapped over the differential flange, new bushings, and when I moved on to the axle flanges I was disappointed to find out that they don't share the same amount of teeth / there's a slightly different design. Not sure if it's necessary for me to return this one yet (it was advertised to fit an 08 G35S 6MT), but there is a clear difference within the differential. I attached two photos of this here, anything would help!

Note: The one that came out of my car doesn't have that thing in the middle, the one I ordered does.

New part

Old part

Thank you!

That looks like maybe a 370Z diff?
