Car in limp mode after connecting alternator?

Hey y'all, was getting ready to swap my alternator when i noticed the connector for it and the power steering sensor were not connected. Went ahead and connected them and charged my battery to about 60% to test the alternator as well as use a multimeter ( reading was at 14.3-4 when the car was running) but when i went inside to blip the throttle I noticed it would not go above roughly1.3-1.5k rpms? Any idea why that is? Have no clue what it could be now. Car ran fine without those 2 connectors plugged in but now I'm confused. What should i look into?

Thanks!

Are you 100% SURE those connectors went there? There are several unused harness that should be taped back onto their harness.

If the PSP sensor was unplugged the engine would stall when you turned the steering wheel at idle.

If the alternator harness was unplugged it would not be generating current and the battery would die.

If these two things weren't happening BEFORE then those systems were already hooked up.

Are you throwing any codes right now?

Yes, maybe the connections were loosely put on? Something to note is that the alternator had PS fluid leaking onto it. But the car drove fine ( battery would drain obviously cause the alternator wasn’t plugged in ). And I’m waiting on the scanner to come in and will report back with the codes. The lights it has on right now are VDC, Slip, SES, and ABS, also Brake light turns on when driving.

These are the codes it gave me, when I disconnected the alternator the car runs fine.

Pretty sure you blew a fuse in the fusible link. U1000 means one of the computers isn't communicating, I'm guessing the ABS/TCS computer since you're also throwing a mountain of codes for it.

A lot of those codes are probably just cascades from having low voltage.

Verify the voltage is around 14.5 volts with the alternator plugged in and the engine running. Wipe all codes, see what comes back.
