Transmission Rebuild or Swap?
I have been having issues with my transmission; revving high, shifting gears late, and jerking. I imagine this is due to my transmission being worn out. Should I send it to be rebuilt or buy another one? I did some research and apparently, it is the RE5R05A 5-speed. Does anyone know what other cars use a direct fit of this?
Thanks for the response, I am not too mechanically savvy, so it really does help. Does it have to be from a 07-08 Infiniti G35 sedan, or can I take one from a similar model, like a 350z, etc...?
I'd clean up the transmission ground wire first just to rule out an electrical issue. It's located on the timing chain cover right in the top middle. There will be two wire landed on the cover bolts, one is the transmission ground, clean them both. Remove the bolt, wire brush both sides of the 1-hole ring terminal until it's shiny brass, brush the threads of the bolt, and the aluminum face of the timing chain cover.
Apply a thin layer of electrical anti-oxidation grease to all the mating components and bolt it back together.

I’ve check the transmission fluid and it is kinda dirty (yellowish), probably time for a fluid change. However, I’ve been hesitant to do so, as many claim it will ruin the transmission. Do you think I should just try it out and hope it does no damage? Thanks for the reply btw.

But to really swap out most of the old fluid, you will need to do a series of drain and fills (every 3K dino-oil change). Only put back the amount of fluid that comes out to avoid overfilling.
