Quote: With vendors sig, additional clutter? yes, slightly.

But there are several other factors.
There are over 70,000 members & only a handful of sponsors.
The small group of vendors are generally not large post count contributors to thread discussions.

Lastly, we have to have a package to sell, to keep this site going.
This is one item in that vendor package that makes their expenditure worth it.
I read the rules about sig lines today. After an offical infraction was issued. lol.

Rules are rules. No problem. But allowing 4 lines just because you are premier doesn't automatically unclutter the signature. Regardless of membership status, everyone still has to deal with the # of lines in a signature. 4 lines for non premier is just as cluttered as 4 lines for a premier.

I've already modded my sig to the rules. I just think the "cluttered" reasoning doesn't have much practical logic to it.

Mike. You can't see my sig at all? I modded it, not eliminated it.

Mike. My question is can you see ANY of my sig or is it totally and 100% blank?

And yes, I got a warning right after someone read your post about my sig:

Quote: The purpose of keeping private f/s ads out of signatures is to reduce clutter, not because they cut into sponsor's profits.

I'm sorry Cal and no offense to you but that makes no sense as well.

Reduce clutter?? What clutter.... we are allowed a certian amount of lines/characters in our sigs what difference does it make if someone has...

"Plenum Spacer-Exhaust-Intake-Tune-etc" in their sig
or
"Plenum Spacer For sale"

I can answer that for you...NONE, makes no difference what so ever.

^^^ Don’t attempt to apply logic to the equation; you’ll mess up the system.

Quote: wow i didnt know that, i had a few FS Threads in my sig before and never got caught guess i was lucky. i do think that rule is stupid reduce clutter sure thing boss
I can't comment on the reason the rule was created, definitely way before my time, but it is not a new rule.
Quote: Clearly there is a game being played here… they could see you sig the entire thread and had no problem with it until they are called on some scrupulous action – and now they do that???
Yeah, it couldn't be that it was just overlooked and no one happened to notice it till you pointed it out. Having a member point something out then having it corrected, that is just too logical because it would be following what I said earlier about giving specific examples to the staff.

overlooked??? multiple staff replied to multiples of his posts! How could it have been over-looked?

Its a game, and now your playing a game about how much of a game it is.

Did I say a mistake wasn't made? No, I said it was overlooked.

I can tell you that personally, I never really paid much attention to people's sigs until this thread was created. When you posted the comment about Jeff's sig, I actually had to scroll up and see what you were talking about. Sorry, I'm not perfect. Was it an error on my part? Yes. Will I be paying closer attention to people's signatures in the future? Yes.

You want to say the staff here missed something, fine, but don't start some bs about playing games, you sir are the one playing games.

I think what you fail to realize is that all the moderators are volunteers. We don't get paid to do our duties, and thus, the majority of us are members first, and moderators second. We don't go around looking for infractions, when we come across something that we see that could potentially be an issue, then we try to address it or bring in someone with more power/knowledge to do so. Expecting us to have every rule memorized and apply it in every situation would be overkill. We do what we can, if you don't like it, then no one is stopping your from closing the window.

Go mods and admins go. Let's just move on from the folks that just want to find fault or challenge the rules.
