Did anyone find out which magazine released the info too early? I'm imagining we'll see a lot of articles in the next few days as if one company blows an embargo, everyone else is entitled to dismiss the embargo as well.

Thanks to whoever it was!

I'm sure you'll be off of Nissan's press list.

PS - Apparently it was Road & Track. That's sucky for everyone. It'll be hard for Infiniti/Nissan to not include them in future PR efforts due to their size and importance.

Oh well, stuff like this happens all the time. I work with the media for a technology company and **** happens.

R&T never gives Nissan/Infiniti good reviews to begin with.

did they really blow it or did Nissan allow this to begin with? Is there any way we can know this? If Road and Track did blow the "embargo", they can be sued pretty heavily.

p.s. "embargo" is the completely wrong term for this, even though people here and the Winding Road have used it in this manner lol.

I can't remember where it was, I think Edmunds said it was Road and Track.

Even though NDAs are signed, you really can't sue. It sucks for Infiniti, but the minute you tell hundreds of journalists, it's a risk you take.

Sometimes it can be done intentionally to build hype, but I don't think so this time. They had been hyping that New York release which now isn't that exciting.

Infiniti might not like it but it happened only a little more than a week before the deadline. Not terrible if you ask me. I mean, most manufacturers can't keep their future models from the media. Nissan has done a super job with that. If I were Infiniti I'd be pissed off that the first pictures the public saw were less than flattering. First impressions are everything, right?

Look at the Winding Road. They reported the R/T blew the seal and then Autmobile magazine followed suit.

That's funny, Patrick Hong of R&T is the one who suggested to me that the G35 coupe was the best choice in the under $40k niche.
I have to agree.
The first pics I saw were from Automobile mag. The second set, Edmunds. If R&T broke the embargo, where are the links to R&T?

If anything, this helps Nissan. More attention before the New York show where GM is introducing a ton of cars.
If this is actually an issue, then Nissansportmag is one of the few who stand to gain from all of this.

Okay, here's what happened.
First, Infiniti did not want anything released until the car was shown at New York. The print publications asked if they could move up the date to (I think) March 28, 2007 to accomodate their mailing schedule for their May issues. Infiniti agreed. Then, yesterday, R&T sent its electronic magazine out to its electronic subscribers. It may not have been an intentional leak. More like a mistake where R&T forgot the electronic issues were sent before the hard copies were mailed. Apparently Edmunds is an electronic subscriber. Once Edmunds saw the electronic release, they posted their review on their web site. I don't know if Automobile Magazine is an electronic subscriber of R&T or if Automobile Magazine caught Edmunds' posting. But, in any event, Automobile Magazine then posted their article on their web site. And, everyone else followed suit.

P.S. Because R&T's story is available only to its electronic subscribers, the general public still hasn't seen R&T's story. Kind of ironic because that story is what started the whole flood of releases.

When Subaru introduced the 2002 WRX some guys from NASIOC hacked into the special web-site Subaru prepared for the WRX. Some people actually ordered cars before it was released.
