Dear Infiniti,

Thank You for the beautiful G37 Coupe! Also, thanks for the 3.7L VQ37VHR.
Sorry.

Dear Infiniti,

The new coupe sucks; I hope Nissan does better with the new GT-R. Thank you for making my 04.5 6MT a classic.

To be honest, what happened between the G Coupe Concept and production G37 is much better than what happened to the FUGA Concept.

Does the 2008 G37 coupe have anything distinct or even remotely original about its design? The reason there is an uproar in this forum is that the appearance of the car is no longer fresh. I can make all kinds of analogies to other cars which already exist but I think you've read the comments from others. As I stated above, I will look at the G37 coupe when it arrives but why should anyone purchase a car that aesthetically isn't attractive. Since you seem to be genuinely curious, at this point my other considerations are a 3 series, MB CLK, or A5.
Most of us are very passionate about our cars.. maybe that's why we spend time with others on these forums. agree to disagree.. the uproar could be based on current owners defending what they have.. not wanting to let go of the fact their car is not the latest/greatest g coupe... i for 1 listen to no-one but myself.. esp when spending 40k on a car. i enjoy these forums because everyone has an opinion and i just might see or hear of something i missed. In this case.... proof is in the pudding... the first time i saw a picture of our g35 sitting next to (the lastest shots) of the g37 i was sold. The g37 grew up. I purchased an 04 g35c.. loved it.. i just happen to like the looks of the g37 more! The forums didnt convince me of that now did they?

I was ready to trade my '04 Caribbean Blue 6MT in for the new '08 Coupe, if the new design kicked the pants off the current design. It doesn't at all, and it makes my CB G look hotter than ever. No trade will occur.

just goes to show that two people who both love the current G can have completely diff. reactions to the g37.... i love it.. and will put my deposit down if the car looks as good in person at the NY auto show next month.

i'm happy infiniti come up with a G coupe in the first place!!! everybody wins.

I don't dislike the new G, it's just different. Obviously, Infiniti would like to see the same type of buyer reaction to the new model that they received with the first generation G back in 03 and that may happen but unit sales will be the proof. I'm sure we will see refinements for next years model but I'm confident Infiniti has another winner on their hands and has most likely expanded their customer market. If the new platform supports the hardtop/convertible, they will even further expand their market. Price is the key to their success. Everyone loved the 240Z but by the time the 300Z was introduced they priced themselves out of the market. I hope that history doesn't repeat itself and that the current car leads to higher resale values for the first generation G!

I own an 03.5 Sedan. When I first saw the pictures that debuted in Autoweek in 2002, it was love at first sight. The cover shot was a front 3/4 view. I couldn't believe how beautiful it was. When I saw the car in person, the impressions I had from various magazine articles were carried over.

Likewise, when I saw the Coupe, first in the magazines and later in person, it was drop dead gorgeous. It photographed well and looked equally good in person. Dirt or poor shots did nothing to diminish its stylish looks.

I have been waiting for the new Coupe to come out as I have been planning to get one and add it to my G sedan. I have read some pretty lame excuses for the styling such as the comparison between one set of pictures showing the car being dirty and others showing it cleaned up. Additionally, it is sad when people have to say that it will probably look better in person than in the photos. I think that is a cop out.

I can't be accused of being biased since I don't own the present Coupe. All my years of experience with cars-40+, have never seen a car that has photographed poorly to be any better looking in person. Over the years, I have heard this excuse thrown out for poorly executed designs. Generally, if a car photos well, it looks great in person too.

My first impressions when I saw the pics in Automobile magazine were, "Yikes, what happened?" Saying that the front end and overall design will grow on you is like saying Rosie O'Donnel's face and body will grow on you as well. Either a car is good looking, or it isn't. Good styling isn't necesarily subjective. Cars that have been extolled for their beauty are universally seen as such.

For the moment, I will reserve any more judgement until I actually see one in person. The one thing that could win me over in spite of the ugly duckling front end would be performance that would rival a BMW 335i Coupe. If the new Coupe could get into the high 4's for 0-60 and the low 13's for the quarter mile, I might still give it a look-see. Otherwise, I'm off to Bowtie land to get me a new Camaro.

OMG!!! You guys are cracking me up!! Off to Bow tie land? Are you serious? I agree with alot of the folks that I am going to wait to see in person. So far, I like what I see. Overall, it is an improvement over the current G in both looks and performance. Come on guys, its the next generation of a great car. Improved performance, improved interior, improved brakes, improved stereo (thank god), and improved design. So your gonna buy a Chevy?
