But over the last 2 years i was able to handle the g35.
Know exactly what you mean. Not everyone is a Bill Gate. But I guess he would kill to get a cool tattoo.

Just my opinion; no complaints here

This is the first time it has been written so nicely and directly, and you really hit it on the head, many people are just pouring out angry messages, while i could understand people waiting for a specific car, I was not sure why the harsh comments, this makes a lot more sense now in those exact words.

In the late 90's BMW started to transformed itself from a pure drivers car to a lot more luxury and less pure sports car, and a lot of people complained they were chasing Merc too much, but it actually gained them a whole new audience (while at the same time pricing the fastest cars right out of the lower ranges and taking entry level buyers chances to own 1 out of town)

Now that I myself can barely hit the entry price level for the 335's, they are too conservative, sleepy styled, lux autos for me to want one. I can see why you are worried that this car may go in that direction too, but for now they are not there yet, and you still cant fint a car for this price with these options, as many have said above.

JoeP - I see your point too, I am only glad I really like this new style, cause I would be sitting right where you are if not, no real options to buy something of this level if the G37 did not look good to me.

I wish the auto show would have a few color display models on the floor, red or black, something other then plain silver..... Oh well, see you all there on Saturday, I will be the one with the checkbook and pen in hand.... maybe.

Thats why im mad.. the concpet was awesome.. and for around 40K.. you cant beat it. and the g35. from $40k-$65K Theres not a car id pick over it.. a BIG gap.. now 65K plus.. then things get fun. but id still pick the concept over PLENTY 65k plus cars. But i just dont feel that way with the g37, id rather maybe struggle and get the higher end car

The concept definately dropped jaws.

Imo, its not surpricing it didnt make it into production. Yeah, the G37 definately looks almost identical, but in a less exotic manner.

If the Coupe Concept would have made it into production, it would have gotten alot of complaints from exotic owners; I'm sure they wouldnt have liked a 40k "exotic" rolling in the streets

Lexus IS500, M3, GT-R, C6 Corvette going to be a lot more than just 40K.
If you say "around $40k" then I would say there is a lot out there:

Sport/Luxury Coupes:
- 335i (starts at $41k -- you don't have to get every option)
- A5 is expected to be around there, the TT already is under $40k
- In about a year, the Challenger will be out and should be under $40k

Two-seat Sports Cars:
- The C6 can be had for $43k with no effort at all -- so that is "around $40k"
- 350Z
- S2000

Sedans:
- Evo-X (new one looks to bring a lot more refinement than the old one)
- A4
- IS350
- 300C SRT-8

The problem is, none really has a great mix of sport/agressive look and comfort/luxury. For me, the are either too one side or the other.

I find it odd you picked cars like the M3 and the IS-F to use as "competition" since there are cheaper alternatives to both cars and the G37 is no where near the power of those V8s.

Seriously, can we all just stop complaining about the small things and just come together as fellow Infiniti enthusiasts?
I think a healthy exchange of ideas is a good thing and can even help Infiniti to produce more desirable (and subsequently profitable) cars in the future. That is, of course, assuming we are a good indication of their target audience, which I now suspect, we are not.

But, if I don't like it, I certainly won't get it--that is for sure. Which would be a shame because I was all amped up for this car--for well over a year. Heck, I even bought a "beater" in anticipation to save up for mods when the car came out. Now, sadly, that might go towards a different car (most likely from the coupe list above).

However, I do like hanging around to see if my initial negative reactions can be swayed through either time, or additional information, as I have always like Nissan/Infiniti.

I also feel the complaining shows how passionate people where about the concept and the emotion behind the car as a whole--we are, after all enthusiasts who like to tell other people what we feel . It will subside though, and probably pretty soon--once people get it out of their system.

I do feel Infiniti is partially to blame though, for the "the concept is 90% of the production car" statements when, in fact, the changes to the overall impression of the car were far more drastic than that. People are just reacting to their expectations. Well, I know I am.

+1. I was thinking the same thing. Perhaps they're aiming right in between of BMW and MB.

guys you are getting a sick car for under 38k. The g37 is going to be sick, when one of them blows by you on the street, your mouth will be to the floor along with your doors when the g37 blows them off

^^^^I totally agree with you!! For those that don't like the G37, you have two choices. Keep your G35 or go to another automaker, there are plently others out there!

I was all ready to trade my G35 Coupe in, as I was anticipating with all the hype that the G37 would be totally kick-@ss.

Won't happen now. Jealousy has nothing to do with it.

Sorry Carlos Ghosn- you've lost a dedicated customer who has owned four different Nissans! I'll keep my G35 for now, and upgrade to another brand later.

Think before you post.

Many owners have modded their cars to the point where they could afford 2 G37's. Getting one shouldnt even be a problem, financially, for many.

Jealousy shouldn't even be in any 1st Gen owners' mind.

Most of the complaints are toward the fact that visually, it has strayed away from the sportiness the G35 has always had.

Many current G Coupe owners planned on getting the 08, but were disappointed with the design. Therefore, the excesive complaints.

better title for the thread: If you don't want to read about how people don't like it, don't read those threads!.

part of a community involves voicing your opinion. If I don't like something, I will voice my opinion about it. If you don't want me to, don't read it. This is what websites such as this are for. Voicing our opinions and helping each other. Don't click on threads you don't want to read. Simple as that. Just like when there's a 100th repost...unless of course you want to go into the thread just to write REPOST!..but who does that
