6 speed G35 sedan
Any problem areas beyond the oil galley issue on the G37?

I currently have a 6 speed '04 Sedan, its basically our weekend and road trip car. But my wife can't drive a manual, isn't really willing to learn. She currently has a 4 cylinder 2008 Ford Escape and I'm thinking of replacing it with an '09 or newer G37 sedan with an automatic. I know freeway mileage isn't great (currently get 25-28 mpg in my '04) but they have a large, comfortable interior, reasonably quiet inside and the trunk is large enough for me to stuff either my road or MTB into (wheels removed of course) to take with us. Decent enough power even stock. Plus it has more modern features than my G35 or my Accord. Most 09-11s are going to for around $8000-10,0000 depending on mileage. Not looking for an AWD version, isn't necessary here in north Texas.

Any other issues I should be aware of? is there a way to tell if the oil galley issue has been addressed on a particular car if they don't have the paperwork (Honda would put a small round punch mark over the 3rd letter of the VIN if a major recall or TSB had been done) or is there a noticeable drive-ability issue that would show it hasn't been done? How solid are the transmissions? I'm assuming the oil consumption issues had been solved by then although my '04 isn't bad, especially for 182k miles.

Been really happy with my current G35 and compared to a 2014-15 V6 Accord, the G37 has similar features, powers the proper end of the car, more power and is almost half the price.

I've had my 2010 G37 sedan for about 3 years. I've never had issues from the oil gallery gasket. *knock on wood* . Both the manual and 7sp are dependable transmission. some people complain the 7sp lags a bit but if you do the reprogram it makes it more responsive. I love the car.

Do you reprogram through Uprev? Already have a license for that. Or do you mean something like a shift kit?

Its a reprogram through the dealership but Uprev/Ecutek can do it also, though it might be a little different.
