Car got hit..SLIP light is on..need advice

Hey guys,

A nutcase decided that his lane would be the on the median between the yellow lines and he nailed my driver's side front side/corner as I was getting into a turn lane. Lucky me, he didn't have a license or insurance and the 1992 POS he was driving didn't belong to him. He was arrested and his car was towed. So, I am still going to have to eat my deductible.

I have a 2003 G35 coupe. I am taking the car to the body shop either tomorrow or Tuesday. On the way home from the collision, I noticed that my SLIP light was on between my gauges and the light that reads "VDC Off" was lit. Pushing the VDC button did nothing. I know it worked before because I have turned it off and on. Obviously, the collision did something besides the outward damage.

Does anyone have an idea what happened that would cause the SLIP light and the "VDC off" light to come on? I'd like to be able to explain what is going on to the body shop besides saying, "The light is on and I don't know why." Any information would be appreciated.

Sorry for the long post.

Thanks,

Les

Would the body shop send it to the dealer to take care of that problem or would I have to do that after the shop took care of all the body work?

you need to have your computer looked at so it can varify the actual problem. so as others have suggested and Ill do the same, bring it down to infiniti

You can disconnect the battery for a while and reconnect. Something may just need to be reset, but like the others said I see a trip to the dealer on this one. Good luck.

I would take it to the dealer first and get their suggestion on the body shop. They all use their own shops for body work and most are okay or better. If you have one in mind already then you can compare. The big advantage is if you use theirs they can take care of everything. You'll get your car back like new and won't have to worry about the next shop. Since your insurance will cover this, I don't see why you couldn't have one bill (if they can do this) from the dealer and everythng would be a lot easier. IMO

I'm definitely going to my own body shop. They have done great work for me in the past and I have been extremely satisfied with them. I'll talk to them about the issue and see what they have to say. I'd rather that they take care of the trip to the dealer...if they would do that. If not, I guess I'll have to take the car.

I'll definitely have them check the alignment. Even though I don't see any damage on the wheel, I think the other car may have hit the tire.

Thanks IvoryGT.
