Whatever though.. I look at it as a forced opportunity to upgrade one of the cars OEM weaknesses by going with a better and lighter battery.

It's not dangerous to charge a battery the way I'm doing it, so I'm just going to coninue doing it since the battery is already on the way out, and hopefully it will have enough juice to get through another year or so.... but if not, I honestly don't care enough to get worked up about the small expense of a new battery. I am more annoyed by the fact that there seems to be a lot of individual things about G35's that are not of sufficient quality when taken as a whole... such as the paint, interior fit and finish(rattles), etc, and I adore my car... so that lack of quality rearing its head in new ways as time goes on sort of tarnishes the perception of the vehicle as its owner.
I can't really use a trickle charger right now anyways because I'm not allowed to run a power wire out to my car and leave it out there overnight where I'm living at the moment, and I don't want to have a trickle charger hooked up to the battery inside the house because it requires adequate ventilation to prevent an explostion hazard due to the Hydrogen emission of a charging automotive battery(even at low voltage).

theres so many factors that go into how long a battery will last. Washing your car with the strero on for hours and then not driving it will slowly kill it. Heat is terrible for batterys. Your lucky if you get a battery to last 3 years in CA, Arizona cars are probably worse. My 03 Nissan battery to signifacntly smaller than any rplacement I could get. Its not mileage that determines how many miles, a battery and the odometer are not connected, every 3-4 years is normal.

Basically you don't replace a battery just to replace it, unless you have new power needs driven by a high drain stereo system or other auxilliary electronic gadgetry/components which you plan on using a lot with the motor off(usually these also require a higher output alternator if you plan on running them consistently with the car on). Most of the time you'd replace a battery because it is either leaking or not performing adequately(battery consistently dying/car starting weaker than normal, etc). Really cold weather is where you can really notice a battery needing replacement.

Jan/03 here with the original battery, and I drive it maybe once or twice a week. Sits most of the time.
