Is Infiniti for real in their pricing?!
Got off the phone with Crest Infiniti in Dallas, TX... taking my recently acquired 2003 G35 w/ 80k in for some minor work, and was surprised at the prices I was being quoted:
- wiper blades = "up to $45"
- driver's side parking light = "won't know 'till we see it"
- wheel locks = "anywhere from 45-50"
- synthetic oil change = $89.99 (this one was expected)
- brake check, if replaced = $269 front + 269 back, includes parts & labor
I've been with BMW & Mercedes in the past and they charged nowhere near those prices. Is this to be expected from Infiniti, or do I take my business and hard-earned money elsewhere? I don't mind paying those prices; I just want to make sure I'm not getting bent over the table here...
Thanks!

(1) Why would you buy wiper blades from a dealership?
(2) Why would you buy a parking light from a dealership?
(3) Why would you buy wheel locks from a dealership?
(4) You're out of warranty - get the oil changed somewhere else.
(5) Ditto for the break replacement - although I have Brembos and paid more than that which was to be expected.

For real... no need to take your car anywhere for 4 out of those five. Do them your self then take your car somewhere cheaper to get the breaks replaced if they actually need them.

I found your response humorous (and true), but I'd appreciate a little guidance along with the dose of reality.
To take the time out of my day to carry out a bunch of DIY-ers is almost out of the question. The other fact that I know squat about cars is another. Given that, I have the peace of mind knowing my car's taken care of when I take it to a dealership I can hold accountable for their overpriced work; however, I try to keep the expenses within reason, and my reasoning is Infiniti maintenance should NOT cost me more than my past BMWs & Mercedes.
Again, thanks for your quick response.
Dealerships generally have higher overhead; therefore their prices are going to be higher. You are paying for convenience it seems. Changing oil, wipers, parking lights, and wheel locks won't take more than an hour of your time. Brakes, you can change the pads in about 2 hours with normal tools.

Hmmm...based on your responses, yeah, take your car to the dealer....And as far as dealers go, those prices don't seem too bad.
most of those things can be found at an auto store.. if you dont have time, let a local member do your brakes and pick it up after work.. oil change will take you about 25 minutes if you work quickly and have either air drill or a drill to take all those annoying 10mm bolts out

you could always try the nissan dealer. a lot cheaper for the same crap.
but serioulsy, the wiper blades you can just stop by kragen and get some bosch blades for a lot cheaper. takes 3 minutes to replace.

Infiniti dealer for 30K service: $900. Nissan dealer next door $500. If ya really wanna go with a dealer go with Nissan, if not find a reputable local shop to do it for you if you don't have the time to do it yourself.

its really easy to change the brakes yourself....i just watched a youtube video someone from this site posted and did all four in about 1 hr. i think changing the brake pads prematurely is still better then paying for new rotors.

I got everything done by a friend for $100 plus the cost of the synthetic fluids
screw the dealer.
Wow, I was going to go to the Infiniti Dealer next weekend for my 30k tune up , but now I will go to Nissan. I agree replacing brake pads is something anyone can do with some visual DIY aid. Time is moderate and tools can be found at walmart if you dont want to spend $$ on tools.
