Engine service light on after sparkplug change???

Hi guys/gals.

I recently fallowed the DIY here on how to change your spark plugs which I fallowed to the letter but for some reason now, the engine service light is on.

I was just wondering is there any way for me to turn it off ? or would I have to go to the dealer and have them do it? Im pretty new to the g35 world so im not quite sure where or how certain things can be done. Ive always been just a simple honda guy.

Thanks in advance
- Sammo

I don't know how to turn it off but I would think you would want to see what is setting off the code before you just turn off the light. If there is something causing it then the light will just come back on even if there is a way to turn it off.

This is just an " engine service soon " light not a Check Engine Light.

Sorry for the lack of help but I'm not very mechanically inclined. My guess is either light is letting you know there is some kind of issue. I would take it to your dealer and have them read the code that is causing it so you know what the issue is then you can decide to fix it yourself or have them do it.

"Service Engine Soon" = "Check Engine Light". Different cars call them one or the other.

Hrm. Interesting. So they combined a maintenance light with an check engine light. if thats the case then geez. Why cant newer cars be easier to work with. arg. Sorry, just new to G world.

Guess i'll just have to scan it when I get home.

You can check out a scanner from autozone also. Don't go to the dealer quite yet... find out what the code is then decide what to do.

Thanks guys. I guess ive mistaken the service light for maintenance light for like oil change that is due and stuff. instead of a CEL. I have my own obd reader. i'll check what code is throwing. Again. Thanks for the help.
