Progress sorta

Did a tune up yesterday..
Seems like original plugs & the air filter was DISGUSTING YEECH...
But the car only runs SLIGHTLY better... Don't get me wrong here, the car ran fine.. and the only item of note it idles smoother. My drivers side bank has the dreaded oil leak from the cam cover for number 6... so that goes on the list..

And on to the Air bags...
Fuses check out...
Swapped Air bag brain...
No dice, no flash, no NADA just the light on the dash taunting me...

Anyone know where the Air Bag relay lives??

Badges, we don't need no STINKIN badges...

Well unless you have to have a CHP inspection~
Then you do need someone who has a badge & gun...

So today I had the tint removed for $100.00
( but I get a free tint job once I pass inspection , managers special ).

Then off to Parkway Infiniti for a meet & greet with that stealer ship...
The service writer was pleasant and we scheduled an appointment for Sat AM
for the Pass side seat air bag recall ( it's just a wiring harness extension, repair any stressed out wires & relocate the harness ) 1.5 hrs and FREE~

So now I went to CHP for VIN inspection.. and I passed 9 outta 10 but FAILED for the Air bag light...( which I knew going in ).

1/2 hour in back ( and no you can't watch ! )

He wen't thru all of my receipts.. and saw I was just a legit guy building a car..

There is a new LAW in the Nanny state that states any USED part you buy at a wrecking yard ( or swap meet, news group E bay etc etc ) the receipt needs to have the VIN from the car it came off of.... The officer thought there was a fair amount of gray area there.. like an engine , tranny, major suspension & air bags SHOULD, but small parts, bah...

What there looking for is 20K worth of work and a 50.00 receipt in crayon from Uncle Lupe's body shop & bar in Mexico...

So once the new airbag computer gets in ( and I can get the light blinkin ) ...
then we reset, inspect and are GOLD!

Next the $700.00 fuel leak.....

I just stumbled across this thread and ended up reading it start to finish. First I want to commend you on nursing the life back into this lovely G Coupe. This project is quite the DIY undertaking. Well done, and kudos.

Second, I feel it is necessary to point out that I appreciate your entertaining writing style. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed.

I look forward to mod time. Subscribed.

Thanks JC..! for all your comments I appreciate it... for a bit I thought It was just cave paintings only I knew about!

Ok so there is a recall for the Pass side seat air bag connector, so the car's @ Infiniti now and I should have it back ~ 12:00 Plus I get a FREE multi point inspection .. what ever that is and a wash WOO HOO I feels like a special customer .......DERP! : X

So next things on the list are,
Rear 1/4 panel 6.5 alpines with adaptors.
Changing out the D/S headlight low beam to an 8K.
Put a replacement 8K in but it looks to yellow ( doesn't match! ).
Monday re inspection & DMV sign off.
Tuesday drop off for the 700.00 fuel leak ( and another 4 quart tranny change ).and MAYBE add the tranny cooler, not for all the MASSIVE HP a stock engine can generate.. just to stretch the tranny life a bit.
Then start paying down the CC for all the CASH I've tossed into this pit...

This has been a learning experience, but it kinda proves that a front end rebuild
( and getting it right ) is cost prohibitive any way you slice it..

But heck I had to PROVE THAT, since the category is HOBBY I can justify over spending..
I hope by December to be flush with the car, then I'll have an idea how reliable the power train is...

Then rims, tires & shocks ( with a small drop )....

So today I did belts.. not to bad..
Found my wiring harness for the fans is a bit messed up.. in a good way I guess
it's pulling to much air ( see the other post )..

But now the bad ... the tranny front seal has a small leak : (

I'll live with it for now....

So into the shower, off to the parts store to return a belt..
and get a claybar to see if I can get out the sticker residue off the trunk..

and a stop on the way back at the car wash to get her all clean~
