HELP! Need ECM Model Number explation/breakdown for Compatibility l!
Just posted my situation Here
In regards to if God forbid I have destroyed my ECM, does it actually have to be the EXACT same model? Online all the ECMs seem to start with "MEC..." they gave me 23710-ac810.
If I take mine out will it show an MEC number, is that in addition to or in place of the model no I was given, and what does the model numbers and letters mean; can an ECM model of similar be compatible and work perfectly? Are the 2 big bold Letters on the ECM the most important part to match; read on forum someone said that's the software and what is important and model didn't matter but other forums say "match the MEC". Other say similar MEC is okay, no clear answer on what the Model number means and what is necessary to work seamlessly after reprogramming, or what minor things won't work but aren't critical. Any explanation/breakdown of ECM #s?
I live in the Bay Area and the dealerships don't carry the ECM and even the labor is too expensive for me to have them just find the problem let alone fix it.
Thank you for any help
